On December 17th 2021 New Millennium Building Systems presented the Out of Egypt Food Pantry and Toys for Tots with their 8th annual donation.

New Millennium Building Systems (New Millennium or NMBS), a wholly owned subsidiary of Steel Dynamics Inc. (SDI) one of the largest steel producers in America, employs approximately 280 people at its facility in Fallon, NV. The Fallon facility manufacturers steel joists and girders for the non-residential construction industry. New Millennium strives to make positive changes in the communities where the employees live and work.

New Millennium employees donate time and talent to participate and serve on many organizational boards in various community projects. Employees supported the local community again this holiday season with their annual food and toy drive for the Out of Egypt Food Pantry and Toys for Tots.  New Millennium encourages the employees to support these organizations by structuring a fun annual food drive contest between the departments. Non-perishable food, toiletry/hygiene, school supplies, baby items, winter clothing, birthdays in a bag, and gift cards are collected. The winning department receives official bragging rights as “The Most Generous” for the year and is awarded the “Shining Star” trophy to display in their office until the following December. There is also a “Scrooge” prize awarded.

The Out of Egypt Food Pantry provides an extremely important service to the community, offering groceries to approximately 1,400 needy families and individual members of our community each month. The Toys for Tots campaign collects new unwrapped toys and distributes those toys to less fortunate children at Christmas. The New Millennium 8th annual food drive contest ended Friday December 17th, 2021 with as what New Millennium’s Safety Coordinator, Kim Klenakis, calls, “a phenomenal outpouring of generosity”; taking in the best number of donations to date. New Millennium employees were able to collect and present Out of Egypt and Toys for Tots(as noted) with the following items:

  • 7,531 – Food, Toiletry/Hygiene, School Supplies, and Baby Items

  • 35 – Birthday’s in a Bag (everything you need to have a birthday party!)

  • 163 – Winter Clothing Items (Hats, Gloves, Scarfs, Sweaters & Coats)

  • 807 – Toys - for Toys for Tots

  • $8,856 – Gift Cards – used to supplement the Out of Egypt Food Pantry needs for groceries such as produce and meat.

It would have been a huge undertaking for Out Of Egypt Food Pantry to physically accept NMBS’ donations as they have only about 6-8 regular warehouse volunteers and 4 of those are elderly ladies. NMBS loaded the donations onto Out of Egypt’s donation truck and then nine NMBS volunteers followed the food truck down to the Out of Egypt donation warehouse and helped off-load and sort the donations.

New Millennium’s General Manager, Kelly Robins, says “We are incredibly proud of the team at NMBS-Fallon and for spreading the SDI culture to our local community. The NMBS-Fallon team has been doing an annual food drive for eight years, and it is something that embodies the spirit of the Fallon team and something that we look forward to with great anticipation each year. This year was the best year for donations, a symbol of the continued commitment to community outreach.”
