Obituary - Bill Goings
Bill Goings

Bill was born March 18, 1935, in Helena, Arkansas to Felix and Katie Lou Goings. When he was 14 years old the family moved to Pacoima, California where he attended San Fernando HIgh School and met his future wife, Shari Aytes. At San Fernando High School, Bill was a standout athlete competing in football and baseball. His senior year he played for the Los Angeles City Championship in the Los Angeles Coliseum which was one of his proudest moments.

After graduating from high school, he joined the Air Force where he continued to play football while stationed in England. In 1956, Bill and Shari were married and eventually settled in Reno until he finished his Air Force career. In 1966, Bill and Shari settled in Fallon with their three children. Bill became one of the Greenwave’s biggest fans following the football, wrestling, and basketball teams all over the state to cheer them on. Bill had many hobbies and was good at most anything he set his mind to including golf, team roping, trap shooting, and slow-pitch softball with the Deal & Miller team.

Bill started Oasis Heating and Air Conditioning in 1978 and passed it down to his sons upon retirement. After he retired he loved to fish with a long-time friend of 70 years, Earl Dunn.

Bill is survived by Shari, his wife of 67 years, sons Jeff (Karen), Robb (Stephanie), and daughter Shelley (Jeff), grandsons Chad, Alex, Sam, Matt, and Jay and granddaughters Whitney, Kaitlin, Lauren, Shelby, and 5 great-grandchildren.

The family would like to thank Vidal De La Cruz for his companionship for the last four years, Summer Shuey for taking care of “business” for the last 25 years, and the Banner Hospital staff for their care and kindness.

Per Bill’s request, there will be a private family service only.
