The Churchill Arts Council and Oats Park Art Center are pleased to welcome Vogue Robinson to the Oasis of Nevada on Friday, April 26, and Saturday, April 27, for an in-depth exploration of Vogue’s unique poetry. Vogue, named the second Poet Laureate of Clark County, unveiled her first full-length publication, "Vogue 3:16," released by Wrags Ink in 2014.

Reader Leslie Hoffman remarks, “'Vogue 3:16' is filled with poetry I wish I’d written myself. Though I may not share this poet’s background, I find something in each of her pieces that I can relate to. And don’t let Robinson’s apparent unpretentiousness mislead you into thinking her poems are simplistic. The opposite is true, and this is her genius.”

Vogue’s work has been widely published in the “Red Rock Review,” “Catching Calliope: Vol. 2, Legs of Tumbleweeds, Wings of Lace: An Anthology of Literature by Nevada Women,” and “Clark: Poetry from Clark County, Nevada,” among others. Vogue explores the nuance of classic fairy tales, touching the heart of culture and family along the way.

According to Vogue, her poetry, which she describes as narrative and conversational, tells her family's story. Vogue’s talent is such that she has recently ventured into writing commissioned poems and “crafting impromptu poems on typewriters with The Zelda Fitzgeralds,” as noted in her biography.

The Art Bar will open at 5 p.m. on Friday, followed by Vogue’s literary reading at 5:30 p.m., during which an artist Q&A session will follow. A creative writing poetry workshop is scheduled for 1 – 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 27. An open mic session will begin at 5:30 p.m., giving a new space to the artistic spoken word in Fallon, focusing on poetry and short literary works.

The events are free to the public and will be held at the Oats Park Art Center, 151 East Park Street in Fallon. For more information, call 775-423-1440 or visit [email protected].

Who and what they REALLY were. Because they were devotional and IMPORTANT to the humans they connected with. The content of their life bled so that others could feel their own life’s importance. Teachers of justifiable life and art. That all can absorb and use as the best fertilizer for THEIR lives. Giving the silent secrets and the loud guidance. The Melon Man was a perfect specimen for how to devote. His passing meant a life book of feeling/knowing what gives other humans their paths to Love and Knowledge. Some humans are meant to show others their paths. And in that they secrete ways to profitably exist.Comment publication date: 3/18/26, 4:50 PMComment source: In memorium -- The Melon Man
