Two Fundraisers to Benefit Nick Delgado in His Fight Against Cancer

Friends and family of Nick Delgado, a Fallon man battling Stage 4 testicular cancer will be holding two fundraisers in Fernley in May.

The first fundraiser is a community workout at Daily Grind Fitness on Saturday, May 10. Sign-ups that day will begin at 8 a.m., with the workout starting at 8:30 a.m. The cost to participate is $20 for adults and $10 for kids under 12. All donations will go directly to Nicholas Delgado.

The second fundraiser will be a Sip & Tip from 3 p.m. to 12 a.m. on Thursday May 15 at The Silver Spur Saloon in Fernley. The Spur will donate 10% of total sales for the evening and all tips. There will also be a silent auction, raffle prizes, hot dogs, music by Ziggy's Groove, and karaoke by Desert Feather Sound Tribe. All monies raised will also go directly to Nicholas Delgado.

Delgado was born and raised in Fallon. He is a two-time state football champion as a member of the Greenwave and overall exceptional person in the community. He played college football at Presentation College in Aberdeen, SD, where he graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in Psychology on May 6, 2023.

He was diagnosed on May 9, 2023 on his 22nd birthday, with Stage 4 testicular cancer that metastasized to his abdomen, lungs, and brain. Since the diagnosis he has undergone six rounds of intense chemotherapy that required five days in the hospital each time, two rounds of high radiation to the brain tumors, and a two-month stay at UC San Francisco hospital, completing a Tandem Autologous stem cell transplant with high dose chemo treatment.

Because of the high dose of radiation he’s received, he had swelling in the brain and radiation neurosis and has recently endured multiple seizures, all of which required several more hospital stays, ambulance rides and a Care Flight trip, many more scans and treatment plans.

Delgado’s recent scans remain stable, but he still requires close monitoring, with CT scans every eight weeks, MRI’s every three months, and a port flushed with labs every four weeks.

“While things have been challenging, Nicholas is determined to not let this hold him back and continue living his life to full ability,” his family said. “While giving back to the community and starting to coach youth football, hospital bills and travel expenses for appointments have not stopped. We remain positive and hopeful during this long battle against cancer. We appreciate all the love and support during this time.”

The family thanks The Silver Spur Saloon for their continuous donations and support and to Daily Grind Fitness and their coaches for donating their time and the gym, and also to all of the event sponsors.

The Sip & Tip will be the second annual cancer fundraiser at the Silver Spur. LaNette Arnaud, herself a Stage 4 cancer warrior for two-and-a-half years, is the organizer of the event.
Last year’s event raised more than $5,000 in one night for the organization called First Descents, which sends young adults with cancer and MS on an outdoor excursion. This year, she and Erick and Kellie Flodman, the owners of The Silver Spur Saloon, wanted to keep the monies raised in the local community

“When I heard and read about Nicholas Delgado and his family, I knew immediately this was who I wanted to give back too,” Arnaud said. “I could not do this event without the support of my family, friends and our community. A huge shout out to all of them!”

They strung them along for years until they had no financial choice but to accept and get out. My Dad even hauled water for the Snow ranch trying to stay afloat. May God bless you all. I truly pray it works out for you.Comment publication date: 3/28/26, 9:22 PMComment source: Local Rancher Says Navy Land Expansion is Devastating His Family RanchComment author: Lynn JohnsonComment text: I remember your mother well; she was a lovely and kind woman. I see glimpses of your face in the years worn onto my dad. It makes me feel more connected to you in some way. I remember the familiar kindness from you that I know in my dad. I would’ve really liked to have a good conversation. I only have a handful of memories with you, but you were loving, and you were kind. I wish I was able to say more. If I am someone to you, I hope I make you proud. Thank you Aunt for this sweet post.Comment publication date: 3/27/26, 12:11 AMComment source: Obituary -- Randolph Floris Banovich C Comment author: RBCComment text: The Navy should reimburse the market cost of replacing the grazing land they are taking.
