Federal officials will meet with Fallon-area business owners, farmers, ranchers, lenders, and local leaders Sept. 9 to explain financing and development programs and hear about challenges facing rural Nevada communities.
The free Federal Resources and Partnership Forum will run from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Fallon Convention Center, 100 Campus Way, on Western Nevada College's Fallon campus.
The U.S. Small Business Administration is hosting the forum with the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Representatives from other federal agencies have also been invited.
The program will include two panel discussions followed by audience questions.
The first panel will cover business financing, including federal funding and investment programs, Opportunity Zones, the Historically Underutilized Business Zone program, and public-private partnerships. Panelists will also discuss capital stacking, which uses money from more than one source to finance a project.
The second panel will focus on federal programs for small businesses, housing, infrastructure, agriculture, food systems, and community development. The discussion will include ways federal, state, tribal, county, and local agencies can coordinate their programs.
Organizers are inviting participants to raise concerns and describe the needs they see in their businesses and communities.
Coffee and networking will begin at 8:30 a.m., followed by opening remarks at 9 a.m. Federal representatives will be introduced at 9:15 a.m. The financing panel will begin at 9:20 a.m., and the federal resources panel will begin at 10:25 a.m. Additional networking is scheduled for noon.
