he Churchill County Museum will explore Nevada’s history, culture, and natural past during its free fall lecture series, “The Layers of Nevada,” beginning Sept. 8.
Four regional speakers will present programs at 6 p.m. each Tuesday through Sept. 29. Mark Curtis will open the series Sept. 8 with “One of a Kind,” a program celebrating the culture and history of Northern Nevada.
Dave Santina will discuss PBS Reno’s “Wild Nevadacast” podcast Sept. 15. Tom Young will present “The Earth’s First Giant,” about Nevada’s ichthyosaur sea monster, Sept. 22.

The series will conclude Sept. 29 with Joe Curtis presenting “Comstock Tales & Lies,” focusing on the Comstock and Virginia City.


The lectures will be held at the Churchill County Museum, 1050 S. Maine St. The museum hosts lecture series in the spring and fall, with the next series planned for spring 2027. For more information, call 775-423-3677.
