Jorge was raised in Lovelock, Nevada, and attended Eastern Oregon University before moving to Fallon in 2000. Over the years, Jorge became deeply involved and committed to this community he called home.
Jorge served as the Director of Churchill County Parks and Recreation, dedicating more than 25 years to improving the community and creating places for generations of families to gather, play, compete, and make memories. Throughout his career, he helped lead improvements to Churchill County's recreational facilities, fairgrounds, parks, athletic fields, and more. His work leaves a lasting impact throughout the community he loved.
Youth athletics were especially close to Jorge’s heart. He devoted countless hours of his time coaching and mentoring young athletes in football, soccer, basketball, track, and golf. For Jorge, coaching was about so much more than the game. He cared deeply about the kids he coached and took pride in encouraging them, teaching them, and watching them grow.
All who knew Jorge will remember his big, bright smile and the sweet sound of his laughter. He was always there to lend a helping hand and loved hosting and sharing his talents of cooking family recipes for others. Above everything else, Jorge’s greatest pride and joy were his daughters, Hailey and Rylie. He loved them beyond measure, and anyone who knew him knew that his daughters were his whole world and that being their father was his favorite “job.”
Jorge was incredibly proud of Hailey and all she accomplished, especially her acceptance into the UNLV School of Medicine and the path she has chosen for her future. He was so excited to have “a doctor in the family.”
Rylie was Jorge’s “clone,” and the two shared a special bond and many of the same passions. They loved rock 'n' roll, Star Wars, the San Francisco 49ers, and, perhaps most of all, golf. Their shared interests created countless memories and a connection that was uniquely theirs.
Jorge leaves behind his beloved daughters, Hailey Guerrero (fiancé Malcolm Feest) of Las Vegas and Rylie Guerrero of Fallon; their mother, Julie Guerrero; his father, Jorge Guerrero of Lovelock; his brother, Marco Guerrero; his sister, Liza Mitchell, and her husband, Howard Mitchell; his nephews, Marco Guerrero and Howard Bass Mitchell; his niece, Madison Guerrero; and countless aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, coworkers, athletes he coached, and community members whose lives he touched.
Jorge was preceded in death by his mother, Maria de Los Angeles Guerrero; his grandmothers, Maria Graciela Nava Arias and Obdulia Pelayo de Guerrero; and his grandfathers, Jose Carlos Arias Montes de Oca and Antonio Guerrero.
