A Dream Ten Years in the Making Comes True - Fallon On Ice

A Dream Ten Years in the Making Comes True - Fallon On Ice

The Fallon Chamber Ambassadors joined the Fallon City Council and the public works staff who have worked so hard to get the ice rink ready for the holiday season on Saturday, November 18 for an official ribbon cutting kicking off the ice-skating season that will run through January 6.

Mayor Ken Tedford joked during his remarks that former Assemblyman Tom Grady reminded him recently at a meeting that Tedford has been talking about an ice-skating rink in Fallon for over ten years. This weekend that dream has come true, turning downtown Fallon into a real-life Hallmark Movie.

Next week the annual Tree Lighting event and Holiday Open House will begin on Friday, December 1, at 4 p.m. at City Hall for the Open House and 6 p.m. for the Tree Lighting.

Comment author: Patti Cole Comment text: Marie will be forever treasured in memories. The memories remain of a soft-spoken, seemingly unassuming but determined individual who absolutely knew what path she wanted to take in life, and followed it. Her instinctive reactions, which highlighted her steadfast level of love and caring for her family, friends and all living things found in nature, hold lessons for us all. An unexpected splash of her self-deprecating humor, coupled with uncanny timing, will always bring a smile. For me, Marie lives on in the sighting of a Black-crowned night heron in the tules, the bloom of a beautiful spring flower and, most poetically, in the struggle of wildlife photographers handling their very large camera lenses. Her dad Ted was my dad's brother. I never knew Ted or Betty, but I wish I did. I am 73 and live in IL. I am building my family tree and see where Betty has fit in. Blessings to you Curt and family.
