It’s Time to Light the Christmas Tree, Here’s Your Special Invitation
Tree Lighting 2021, Maine Street Fallon, USA

Author: Rachel Dahl

On Friday, December 2, you are invited to celebrate the magic of the season when the City of Fallon kicks off the holiday season with Fallon’s 93rd Annual Christmas Tree Lighting and Open House Party.
“The Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony and Open House has been a Fallon holiday staple to the residents since 1929,” said Mayor Ken Tedford. “We are excited to come together as a city under the lights of the giant tree on Maine Street and invite all to come and visit.”
Don’t miss the Open House at City Hall where you will be able to meet Department Heads and Elected Officials who serve the city. You will also be able to explore the historic Douglass House. Both will be open from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Be sure to enjoy refreshments and get creative at the cookie decorating tent.
Gather under the beautiful tree to watch it light up our historic downtown Maine Street at 6:30 p.m. The streets will be filled with holiday music, snow, and fireworks. You may even catch your first glimpse of Santa Claus.
The following day, Saturday, December 3, the city will host Santa’s Wonderland which will include cookie decorating, ornament making, letters to Santa station, and free photos with Santa. New this year, attendees will be able to participate in horse-drawn wagon rides.
Make plans now to attend all the activities.
Open House: Friday, December 2 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Fallon City Hall & The Douglass House.

The memories remain of a soft-spoken, seemingly unassuming but determined individual who absolutely knew what path she wanted to take in life, and followed it. Her instinctive reactions, which highlighted her steadfast level of love and caring for her family, friends and all living things found in nature, hold lessons for us all. An unexpected splash of her self-deprecating humor, coupled with uncanny timing, will always bring a smile. For me, Marie lives on in the sighting of a Black-crowned night heron in the tules, the bloom of a beautiful spring flower and, most poetically, in the struggle of wildlife photographers handling their very large camera lenses. Her dad Ted was my dad's brother. I never knew Ted or Betty, but I wish I did. I am 73 and live in IL. I am building my family tree and see where Betty has fit in. Blessings to you Curt and family.
