Obituary - Christine Brooke Jensen July 1, 1946-August 8, 2025

Longtime Fallon resident Christine Brooke Jensen passed away on August 8, 2025,  after a lengthy illness. Born July 1, 1946 at an Army hospital in the Canal Zone, she and her family settled in the San Diego area, and she earned her first degree, a Bachelor’s of Social Work from San Diego State University, and then worked for San Diego County’s division of child protective services for over 6 years. She later moved to the East Coast, where she earned a master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from Columbia University in New York City. She also became certified in Hand Therapy and served for decades as a licensed and registered OT and Hand Therapist.

She and her husband David Evans of Fallon, moved to the tundra of Western Alaska in 1998, where both worked many years for the Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corp in Bethel. Chris became interested in Medical Informatics during this time and she was pivotal in maintaining the State’s Trauma Registry; later she even became the head of Medical Records.

The family had built a home in Fallon in 2000, where Chris retired in the mid 20-teens. She was an active volunteer in Fallon with the Banner Auxiliary and, especially, with the Fallon Animal Welfare Group. An artist from a young age, Chris loved mosaics, creating elaborate objects with textiles, stained glass, while experimenting with Batik and other craft arts. She was a volunteer instructor in mosaics at Western Nevada College, and taught students at her home.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Antonia of Escondido, CA. She is survived by her husband, David L Evans, of Fallon; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Randy and Kristen Evans, of Fallon; sister Karla Jensen of Chula Vista, CA; sister and brother Lisa Jensen and Robert Jensen of Carlsbad, CA; brother Eric Jensen of Molokai, HI; brother Lee Pliscou of the Northern Mariana Islands; and sister Lisa Bernstein of Spokane, WA.

Always a little shy socially, Chris nevertheless always treated her patients, clients, and friends, as well as the many animals she nurtured, with great empathy and gentleness.

A Celebration of Life will be held in Fallon at a later date. Chris would have encouraged interested parties to donate to the Fallon Animal Welfare Group.
