As promised, on Saturday, June 29, Cody and Kristina de Golyer are back and better than ever with their Bull Bash and Rough Stock Rodeo tenth anniversary show. Fear not; despite this being the tenth anniversary of the Bull Bash, tickets are still available at the gate at the Churchill County Fairgrounds outdoor arena.

For Bull Bash enthusiasts who have already purchased tickets, this year’s event has seen a slight schedule change. The gates will now open at 3 p.m., and the rodeo will kick off at 6 p.m., an hour later than previously announced.

Thrilled about this year’s rodeo, the de Golyers are insistent about thanking the people who helped make the Bucking Horse and Bull Bash what it is today. “We just want to let everyone know that we are so blessed to have the support of the community, coming out and enjoying the evening we have planned for them and their families,” said Kristina. “We are so excited to celebrate our tenth annual with everyone!”

As always, the rodeo is just one part of a more significant celebration—this year especially. On Wednesday, as a warm-up to the weekend’s main event, the Fallon Community Theatre had a free de Golyer-sponsored movie night featuring the film “Cowboy Way.”

For families, the rodeo offers more than just the main show. Take a little time to enjoy food trucks and a variety of vendors while the younger crowd enjoys buckets of fun in the Kids’ Zone, free with a child’s ticket purchase. For the older kids (adults), Troy’s Double Shot Bar, a staple at the de Golyer Bucking Horse and Bull Bash since the beginning, will be on hand with plenty of ice-cold beverages.

This year, the Pyramid Lake Jr. and Sr. High School Athletics program will operate the fairground snack bar. Under the guidance of culinary arts teacher Harriet Brady and Coach Borden, the students will serve Indian Tacos, nachos, and other treats to raise funds for their 2024-2025 sports seasons.

Community giving remains an integral part of the Bull Bash, with this year’s fundraising efforts spotlighting the City of Fallon Animal Shelter. Boomer’s Bar is the place for a comedy and live music show on Friday, June 28, featuring local favorite Steven Christie at 7 p.m. Proceeds and donations benefit the shelter, and audience members are encouraged to donate an animal-related item.

This year’s rough stock rodeo promises a wild ride for folks of all ages, featuring the heart-pounding spectacle of bull riding, bronc riding, junior steer riding, calf riding, team roping, breakaway roping, wild horse racing, ranch bronc riding, and even the cuteness overload of mutton busting.

The world-famous Riata Ranch Cowboy Girls, known for trick riding and trick roping, are also slated to perform during the rodeo. Based in Three Rivers, California, the group has traveled to over 18 countries and across the US to represent and promote the Western American lifestyle.

After the rodeo, attendees can enjoy live music by White Water, capping off what promises to be an unforgettable anniversary celebration. Each year, the de Golyers strive to create memorable experiences, and this year’s Bull Bash is no exception—it’s a rodeo to remember.
