Important Reminder from ChurchillCSD

IMPORTANT REMINDER TO FAMILIES & STUDENTS

We would like to remind all families and students that if students have a pending COVID test, it is important that they stay home until test results come back negative. Many students have been tested and returned back to school before receiving results, causing many classes to have exclusions that could have been avoided. We know that this can be inconvenient, but it is the best way to reduce the number of exposures and exclusions in the District.

Per District protocol, if you have reason to believe that your student has contracted or been exposed to someone who has tested positive for COVID-19 they MUST isolate at home until they have been:

  • Symptom-free for 24 hours without medication; AND
  • No one in the household is isolating for or sick with COVID-19-like symptoms; AND
  • Either 10 days has passed since symptoms first started OR the student has had a negative COVID-19 test (confirmed by a health care provider) OR a note from a health care provider confirming the student does not have COVID-19

Please refer to the Health & Safety Measures Document for 2020-2021 for additional information about the District’s protocols.

Additional Cases Reported 1/13/2021:

Churchill County High School

  • 1 student who was last in attendance on 1/12/2021
  • 1 student who was last in attendance on 1/8/2021
  • 1 student who was last in attendance on 1/5/2021

All schools in the District will continue to remain open as they currently are for those enrolled in the AM/PM model. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to the District Office at (775) 423-5184.

Please continue to be diligent about the use of face coverings, physical distancing, good hygiene, and following the guidelines provided by the state. The district will stay diligent to ensure when, if necessary, the classrooms, building, or district may need to move into fully remote learning.

The District has taken all measures of action related to the safety and well-being of all students and staff in each building and is committed to providing the most current and verified COVID-19 information available. Please note that the district is constantly reviewing countywide cases, internal cases, and the total number of student and staff exclusions occurring to make sure that we are protecting the health of all of our district students, staff, and families.

We reached out to the writer/submitter and got this info back...hope it's helpful. PBM: Pharmacy Benefit Managers are pharmacies that are owned by insurance companies. (CVS is one.) They negotiate with drug makers to get reduced pricing for medications, but they historically have not passed along those savings to patients. https://www.ftc.gov/system/files/ftc_gov/pdf/pharmacy-benefit-managers-staff-report.pdf MFN: Most Favored Nation pricing is a policy that means a country agrees to offer the same trade concessions (like tariffs or price reductions) to all member nations of the World Trade Organization (WTO). When applied to pharmaceuticals, it could disrupt global access, deter innovation, and obscure the deeper systemic issues in American health care. https://petrieflom.law.harvard.edu/2025/05/22/the-global-risks-of-americas-most-favored-nation-drug-pricing-policy/Comment publication date: 6/23/25, 7:47 AMComment source: L E T T E R TO THE EDITOR
