Churchill Agencies, Tribe, Interfaith Plan for November Food Need
Community leaders are coming together to support families impacted by the ongoing federal shutdown and SNAP funding halt. Representatives from local agencies, churches, and the Fallon Paiute Shoshone Tribe met last week to coordinate emergency food resources and volunteer efforts. Multiple food pantries, meal programs, and collection drives are being expanded to meet the growing need. Volunteer opportunities and assistance requests will be shared through JustServe.org and the Churchill County Chamber of Commerce. Flyers and online updates will list current food distribution times and locations. 11/06/2025 05:00 AM

Dogs and Humans Have Halloween Fun
Dogs and Humans Have Halloween Fun
Local dog trainers Alyssa Grondin of Connected K9 and Will Pierce of Wags K9 Training hosted a special Halloween-themed Pack Walk in October, complete with costumes and a fun field trip to the Fernley Lowe’s! Clients and their pups practiced leash skills, explored the store together, and wrapped up with a costume contest judged by Lowe’s employees and customers. Both trainers regularly volunteer with the Fallon Animal Shelter and CAPS to help dogs find their forever homes. 11/06/2025 04:30 AM

Saluting Our Veterans
Saluting Our Veterans
The United States has a proud military history, from the founding of the Army in 1775 to today’s brave service members across all branches. This Veterans Day, we honor those who have served — including local heroes like Billy Coleman, James and Joanne Bradford, Wayne Krys, and Benard Simones — for their dedication and sacrifice. To all veterans past, present, and future, we salute you and thank you for protecting our nation and preserving our freedom. 11/06/2025 04:30 AM    1

Main Street was alive with Halloween spirit as the Fallon Chamber of Commerce and local merchants hosted the annual Maine Street Spooktacular on October 31. Families enjoyed an evening of costumes, candy, and festive fun — plus a new giant pumpkin photo spot! The night capped off with a surprise “Thriller” flash mob from The Fallon Theatre, which thanked the community for making the event a spooky success. 11/06/2025 04:30 AM
