The Central Nevada Health District held a grand reopening this week to welcome the public into its renovated offices and clinical spaces in the Churchill County annex building at 485 W. B St.
Mayor Ken Tedford, chairman of the health district’s board of directors, and Executive Director Shannon Ernst cut the ribbon July 8 as staff members gathered around them. Fallon Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Lucy Carnahan hosted the ceremony, which was followed by tours of the updated facility.
The renovations were designed to improve access to public health services and create a more efficient, welcoming space for patients and staff.
The Fallon office provides services for uninsured and underinsured residents, including family planning, sexually transmitted disease testing and treatment, tuberculosis testing, pregnancy confirmation and other laboratory services. Many tests can now be completed on site, allowing patients to receive services more quickly and conveniently.
Children can also receive routine immunizations at the facility. A newly created children’s area provides a more comfortable setting for young patients and their families during appointments.
The administrative portion of the building now includes a training room, conference room, boardroom and dedicated space for environmental health investigations. The infrastructure improvements were funded through the American Rescue Plan Act.
The redesigned layout also provides additional room for plan reviews and meetings with contractors, business owners and other clients who work with the district’s environmental health division.
District officials said the improvements will help employees better organize services, meet with residents and respond to the growing public health needs of the communities CNHD serves.
