Jacqueline “Jackie” E. Jaques

Jacqueline “Jackie” E. Jaques
April 3, 1933 – September 14, 2019 Jackie Jaques passed away in her home in Fallon, Nevada on September 14, 2019. She was born to Helen (Tetrault) & John Denny in Hawthorne, Nevada on April 3, 1933.  Jackie, her brother John, and their parents claimed residence in Hawthorne and Fallon alternately the first twenty years of her life. After graduating from Hawthorne High School in 1951, she studied at a nursing school in Oregon earning her certificate as an LPN. She moved back to Fallon worked in a nursing position until she married. She married Ygnacio Laca in 1954.  They raised four boys; Gene, Joe, Jimmy, and Pat on their farm in Fallon. When she wasn’t busy raising the boys and helping take care of the animals and crops, she enjoyed many artistic endeavors. Jackie was an impressive artist in oil painting, charcoal, and she sketched animals and scenery and especially animations beautifully.  She was a very talented seamstress and patternmaker, she loved to crochet and knit, and she accomplished many needlepoint projects. She left Fallon in 1978, moving to Burns, Oregon where she met Dean Jaques. They were married in 1989 having to part in 1997 when Dean passed away.  During her time in Oregon, she helped Dean run his equipment repair shop. When they had time off, they enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, and family. She delighted in gardening and her dogs, Britt, Spook, and Dixie. She moved to Fernley in 2008 then to Fallon in 2014. She enjoyed re-kindling many relationships with those she grew up with in Hawthorne and Fallon.  She met new people at her residence in Fallon enjoying social get-togethers and pursuing her new love of assembling puzzles. She continued sewing and crocheting, always having several projects going at once. She was an avid reader. Jackie was a kind and gentle woman having a sense of humor that made people laugh. Whenever she heard someone needing something, she would find a way to help.  She will be missed very much by friends and family. She is survived by her sons, Gene (JoAnn) Laca, and Patrick (Terri) Laca; her daughter in law Teresa Laca; her brother John (Jean) Denny; and many nieces and nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be laid to rest beside her two sons Joe and Jimmy Laca at the Churchill County Cemetery in Fallon, Nevada. Services will be held October 12, 2019 at the Gardens Funeral Home in Fallon at 11:00 am with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Wounded Warrior Project [US]. This was a passion of hers to take care of wounded soldiers.     Support local, independent news – contribute to The Fallon Post, your non-profit (501c3) online news source for all things Fallon. They strung them along for years until they had no financial choice but to accept and get out. My Dad even hauled water for the Snow ranch trying to stay afloat. May God bless you all. I truly pray it works out for you.Comment publication date: 3/28/26, 9:22 PMComment source: Local Rancher Says Navy Land Expansion is Devastating His Family RanchComment author: Lynn JohnsonComment text: I remember your mother well; she was a lovely and kind woman. I see glimpses of your face in the years worn onto my dad. It makes me feel more connected to you in some way. I remember the familiar kindness from you that I know in my dad. I would’ve really liked to have a good conversation. I only have a handful of memories with you, but you were loving, and you were kind. I wish I was able to say more. If I am someone to you, I hope I make you proud. Thank you Aunt for this sweet post.Comment publication date: 3/27/26, 12:11 AMComment source: Obituary -- Randolph Floris Banovich C Comment author: RBCComment text: The Navy should reimburse the market cost of replacing the grazing land they are taking.
