Local business gives back to loyal customers

Local business gives back to loyal customers
by Leanna Lehman --  After a long wait and with much anticipation, Stone Cabin Coffee held its raffle event on Thursday evening. With a packed house, coffee and drinks aplenty, and hot-off-the-grill burgers and dogs from Woody’s, four lucky winners went home smiling. An ever-growing event, the raffle drawing drew a standing room only crowd. One customer, Jamie Bennett, had on had 38 tickets on hand. Other groups pooled their tickets and hoped for the big prize of a $2,000 shopping spree at Scheel’s Sports and Outdoors in Reno. In nearly 100 degree temps, the crowd applauded the lucky winners: Yeti cooler: Rosemary Wilkerson Outdoor fire pit: Joyce Sappa Full-size smoker: Brandy Goodson Grand Prize Scheel’s gift cards: Lawrence Thompson The gift card winner, Lawrence Thompson, is from Fernley and makes his way to Fallon when he can for good Stone Cabin coffee and a few raffle tickets. The owner of Total Property Services and home remodeler, accompanied by his two sons, Noah (8) and David (7), appeared a bit shocked at winning. When asked what was the first thing he was going to buy when they went shopping, Thompson didn’t hesitate, “Everybody is getting a new pair of shoes!” And just in time for school to start. Noah and David had ideas of their own. Noah shared, “I want my own set of golf clubs.” According to Dad, Noah been borrowing clubs and didn’t have any to call his own. David plans on getting a couple of video games. As for Mom, Nichole, who didn’t attend the raffle, Thompson plans on getting her some new clothes. As a school teacher at East Valley, she needs new school clothes too. Thompson, Noah, and David were excited and thankful. Thompson, when asked about what he wanted from Scheel’s, he couldn’t think of a thing. Butch Hamilton, owner of Stone Cabin and Woody’s has a heart for the community. Although he avoids the limelight, he would tell you if you could get him on record, that he’d prefer the focus be on the baristas that work so hard for him, the great cooks and servers at Woody’s, and the raffle winners. Stone Cabin is located at 480 W. Williams Avenue, and their phone number is 423-1515.       Sign up to receive updates and the Friday File email notices. We reached out to the writer/submitter and got this info back...hope it's helpful. PBM: Pharmacy Benefit Managers are pharmacies that are owned by insurance companies. (CVS is one.) They negotiate with drug makers to get reduced pricing for medications, but they historically have not passed along those savings to patients. https://www.ftc.gov/system/files/ftc_gov/pdf/pharmacy-benefit-managers-staff-report.pdf MFN: Most Favored Nation pricing is a policy that means a country agrees to offer the same trade concessions (like tariffs or price reductions) to all member nations of the World Trade Organization (WTO). When applied to pharmaceuticals, it could disrupt global access, deter innovation, and obscure the deeper systemic issues in American health care. https://petrieflom.law.harvard.edu/2025/05/22/the-global-risks-of-americas-most-favored-nation-drug-pricing-policy/Comment publication date: 6/23/25, 7:47 AMComment source: L E T T E R TO THE EDITOR
