CCHS Archery Team Takes State Championship

The Churchill County High School (CCHS) Archery Team has hit the bullseye—winning the Nevada State Archery Tournament in a stunning victory. Competing against 14 high school teams from across the state, these skilled archers delivered a dominant performance, securing the championship title with an overall team score of 3,207 and an impressive 126 perfect 10s (bullseyes).

Among the individual highlights, Pakela Malama-Gomes and Isabella Laplana stood out, both earning 2nd place in the state in their respective male and female divisions. Their precision and consistency helped solidify CCHS’s reputation as a powerhouse in high school archery.

These dedicated athletes have been honing their skills since the beginning of the school year, and their commitment has clearly paid off. The championship team includes:

The championship team included Franklin Sabanovich (T), Kolby McFadden (T), Pakela Malama-Gomes (T), Chase Rothmeyer (T), Myles Coatney (T), and Dean Spencer (T), along with Wylie Boartfield, Lars Rasmussen, Zack Tom, Ava Buberl, Tayven Martinez, Willow Shults, and Alfredo Perez. Also on the roster were Cortnee Phipps, Patrick Silva (T), Victoria Dobbs (T), Isabella Laplana (T), Mariah Schafer (T), Alyssa Gardner, Mikayla Carnes, Sheila Miller, Jasmine Collier, and Melanie Mora (T). The journey to the state championship was not an easy one. The CCHS archers have been training relentlessly since the start of the school year, refining their techniques, focusing on consistency, and maintaining their composure under pressure. Their victory is a testament to their dedication, teamwork, and love for the sport.

The entire Fallon community is proud of these student-athletes and their remarkable achievement. Congratulations to the CCHS Archery Team—Nevada State Champions! Your hard work and perseverance have made your school and town proud.
