Donkey Basketball Returns to CCHS for Grad Nite Fundraiser

Donkey Basketball Returns to CCHS for Grad Nite Fundraiser

Churchill County High School is putting a wild spin on basketball with its Donkey Basketball fundraiser, set for Saturday, March 15, at 6:30 p.m. in the CCHS gym. The event benefits Grad Nite 2025, the safe and sober graduation party for seniors.

Doors open at 5:45 p.m., and tickets will be available at the door: $9 for children (K-6), $12 for students, and $15 for adults, payable by cash, debit card, or Venmo.

This year’s event, sponsored by E.H. Hursh Insurance Agency, features four teams competing for donkey-riding glory. The Senior Boys Team (Blue), sponsored by Frontier Fence & Co., will take on the Senior Girls Team (Pink), backed by Just In Time Heating & Air Conditioning, in the opening matchup. The Coaches & Staff Team (Gray), sponsored by Tumbleweed Garbage Disposal, will then face off against the First Responders Team (Red) in a game that promises plenty of fun—and maybe a few spills. The winners will meet in the championship game to claim the ultimate bragging rights.

At halftime, fans can meet the donkeys and snap photos with the four-legged stars.

Proceeds help fund Grad Nite 2025, covering the private Coconut Bowl rental in Reno, transportation, food, and gifts for seniors. The event wouldn’t be possible without Athletic Director Brian Mello, Principal Tim Spencer, and the dedicated Grad Nite committee.

Organizer Erica Bartel encourages the community to come out for a fun-filled evening.

“We are so excited for this year’s Donkey Basketball game! It’s going to be a fantastic night, full of laughter and fun, all for a great cause,” Bartel said. “Thank you to our sponsors and the community for supporting Grad Nite. We hope to see you there!”

They strung them along for years until they had no financial choice but to accept and get out. My Dad even hauled water for the Snow ranch trying to stay afloat. May God bless you all. I truly pray it works out for you.Comment publication date: 3/28/26, 9:22 PMComment source: Local Rancher Says Navy Land Expansion is Devastating His Family RanchComment author: Lynn JohnsonComment text: I remember your mother well; she was a lovely and kind woman. I see glimpses of your face in the years worn onto my dad. It makes me feel more connected to you in some way. I remember the familiar kindness from you that I know in my dad. I would’ve really liked to have a good conversation. I only have a handful of memories with you, but you were loving, and you were kind. I wish I was able to say more. If I am someone to you, I hope I make you proud. Thank you Aunt for this sweet post.Comment publication date: 3/27/26, 12:11 AMComment source: Obituary -- Randolph Floris Banovich C Comment author: RBCComment text: The Navy should reimburse the market cost of replacing the grazing land they are taking.
