What do you get when you take a rural Nevada ranch kid who became a pharmacist, add a life-long passion for horses, and compound it with cutting-edge software technology? You get STABLE Pro, a platform created to simplify the lives of horse trainers.

STABLE Pro is an innovative software tool, built to help trainers overcome the challenges of bookkeeping, inventory management, and client billing, that helps manage a horse operation for both the trainer and the client.

With STABLE Pro, clients can view updates, sort and pay bills, and even sign up for lessons or clinics through the program. By taking the frustration out of managing the business side of horse training, the platform allows trainers to focus on what they do best: training and caring for horses.

James Dexter, PharmD, AE-C, is the Managing Director of STABLE Pro, as well as the Chief Pharmacist for the Fallon Tribal Health Clinic and a staff pharmacist at Fallon Walmart Pharmacy. Raised in Orovada, Nevada, James grew up working with hay and horses and now owns Fifty Horse Ranch in Fallon. His parents, Robert (Bob) and Wendy Dexter, prioritized his education, sending him to a boarding academy at Monterey Bay in California to broaden his horizons.

As a horseman himself and the owner of a number of horses in training, James saw firsthand how much time his trainers spent on bookkeeping—time that could have been spent with family, on personal interests, or working directly with horses. Recognizing the problem, James created STABLE Pro as the solution.

With a vision for solving these challenges, James assembled a team of developers and designers to bring STABLE Pro to life, launching the first iteration as a mobile-responsive web platform. This functionality means users can manage their businesses seamlessly, whether they’re on a computer or from horseback on a mobile device. With just a tap, trainers can publish invoices or update records. No more late nights sorting through paperwork.

STABLE Pro incorporates feedback from trainers, enabling constant growth and improvement of the platform. Early adopters like Dave Thacker experienced immediate relief. “My girlfriend just wants me to get all the invoices off the kitchen table!” he laughed, as STABLE Pro’s automated invoicing gave him back valuable time and a clearer workspace.

The trainer starts by creating a horse profile, where all relevant billing details are logged. From monthly maintenance costs like farrier visits or boarding fees to miscellaneous charges like show expenses, the system allows trainers to automate their billing process. Trainers can also add unexpected charges throughout the month. For example, if a trainer charges $1,000 for training and $500 for boarding, those fees are automatically added to the client’s invoice. If the horse destroys a winter blanket, the trainer can add the cost of a replacement to the invoice, with the client’s approval, at any time. Clients have the flexibility to pay immediately or at the end of the billing cycle through several built-in payment options.

STABLE Pro also focuses on keeping costs low for clients, building in options that allow clients to pay trainers with minimal or even no additional fees. This commitment ensures that trainers receive payments quickly and clients aren’t burdened by unnecessary expenses, further strengthening the trust and transparency between both parties.

STABLE Pro’s delegation tools empower trainers to assign tasks to assistants, team members, or spouses with ease. Whether they’re in the saddle or traveling for a show, trainers can keep operations running smoothly right from their mobile devices.

STABLE Pro is continually evolving to meet the needs of trainers and their clients, enabling better communication, improved transparency, and smoother business experience for everyone. For more information you can reach James at Stable Pro at www.stablepro.us, [email protected] or 775-741-8339.

We reached out to the writer/submitter and got this info back...hope it's helpful. PBM: Pharmacy Benefit Managers are pharmacies that are owned by insurance companies. (CVS is one.) They negotiate with drug makers to get reduced pricing for medications, but they historically have not passed along those savings to patients. https://www.ftc.gov/system/files/ftc_gov/pdf/pharmacy-benefit-managers-staff-report.pdf MFN: Most Favored Nation pricing is a policy that means a country agrees to offer the same trade concessions (like tariffs or price reductions) to all member nations of the World Trade Organization (WTO). When applied to pharmaceuticals, it could disrupt global access, deter innovation, and obscure the deeper systemic issues in American health care. https://petrieflom.law.harvard.edu/2025/05/22/the-global-risks-of-americas-most-favored-nation-drug-pricing-policy/Comment publication date: 6/23/25, 7:47 AMComment source: L E T T E R TO THE EDITOR
