Obituary - Remigio “Junior” Vargas

Source: Junior Vargas

We are saddened to announce the passing of Remigio “Junior” Vargas, a resident of Fallon, NV for the last 40 years. He took his final breath in his home at 11 p.m. on November 14, 2024.

The 7th of 13 children, born on September 26, 1949, in the small railroading town of Battle Mountain, NV, Junior spent his childhood there where he graduated as a Longhorn. As a trade worker involved in the mining and processing of metals, he spent a few years in El Paso, TX. He later returned to Nevada to live out the duration of his life.

He is survived by his four children, Vincent, Crystal, Candice, and Pasqual; his grandchildren Mariah, Adrian, Cameron, Jayden, Carter, Bryce, Jaxtin, Logan and Emma; and his remaining brothers and sisters and numerous extended relatives.

A viewing will be held at Smith Family Funeral Home on Monday, November 25 starting at 10 a.m. followed by a public Mass of Celebration at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow the mass at the Fallon cemetery. Following the graveside services at the cemetery, a reception/luncheon will be held back at St. Patrick’s church hall.

“Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May their souls and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.”

We reached out to the writer/submitter and got this info back...hope it's helpful. PBM: Pharmacy Benefit Managers are pharmacies that are owned by insurance companies. (CVS is one.) They negotiate with drug makers to get reduced pricing for medications, but they historically have not passed along those savings to patients. https://www.ftc.gov/system/files/ftc_gov/pdf/pharmacy-benefit-managers-staff-report.pdf MFN: Most Favored Nation pricing is a policy that means a country agrees to offer the same trade concessions (like tariffs or price reductions) to all member nations of the World Trade Organization (WTO). When applied to pharmaceuticals, it could disrupt global access, deter innovation, and obscure the deeper systemic issues in American health care. https://petrieflom.law.harvard.edu/2025/05/22/the-global-risks-of-americas-most-favored-nation-drug-pricing-policy/Comment publication date: 6/23/25, 7:47 AMComment source: L E T T E R TO THE EDITOR
