On September 28, the Fallon Lion’s Club Clay Second Annual Shooting Competition fundraiser coordinated by Ryan Hiibel of the club, in conjunction with the Fallon Trap Club, welcomed new shooters to the sport and established members of the trap club. Out-of-town shooters also enjoyed a perfect day for shooting.

Two members, Wyatt Ricks, Lahontan Valley Claybreakers, and Sean Erb, Fallon Trap Club, shot in the same competition, and both shot perfect scores of 50 clay targets out of 50. Wyatt would come away with the prize money.

New to the sport of clay target shooting, Tamara Hughes brought and shot her regular hunting shotgun. She had a great time and said she would be back to compete. During the raffle drawing, Tamara won a one-year membership. Congratulations, Tamara.

Wayne Krys, another non-member of the trap club, with his 20-gauge shotgun hit 42 out of 50 clay targets. He said, “This was the first time in many years I competed.”

The Youth Raffle winner was Carter Larramendy, winning a 20-gauge shotgun donated by Legacy Sports. Brett Frank won the Adult Raffle, taking home a 20-gauge shotgun donated by The Fallon Lion’s Club. Both raffle winners can pick up their new guns at the Churchill Armory.

The final competition of the day was the Annie Oakley Shoot. In this competition, everyone stands and shoots from the 27-yard line. There was a $5 buy-back to shoot again should the shooter miss the clay target and want to continue. The competition continues until there is a single winner. Sean Erb won the competition against 19 other shooters.

They strung them along for years until they had no financial choice but to accept and get out. My Dad even hauled water for the Snow ranch trying to stay afloat. May God bless you all. I truly pray it works out for you.Comment publication date: 3/28/26, 9:22 PMComment source: Local Rancher Says Navy Land Expansion is Devastating His Family RanchComment author: Lynn JohnsonComment text: I remember your mother well; she was a lovely and kind woman. I see glimpses of your face in the years worn onto my dad. It makes me feel more connected to you in some way. I remember the familiar kindness from you that I know in my dad. I would’ve really liked to have a good conversation. I only have a handful of memories with you, but you were loving, and you were kind. I wish I was able to say more. If I am someone to you, I hope I make you proud. Thank you Aunt for this sweet post.Comment publication date: 3/27/26, 12:11 AMComment source: Obituary -- Randolph Floris Banovich C Comment author: RBCComment text: The Navy should reimburse the market cost of replacing the grazing land they are taking.
