Bernice Darleen Stringer

Bernice Darleen Stringer
Darleen was born July 22, 1922, in Oxford, Iowa, to Alice and Dewey Warthman, and passed away peacefully, on June 4, 2019. As a young woman she attended Coe College and Northwestern University. Darleen began playing the piano at four years of age. She played with the Chicago Women's Philharmonic and later played pipe organ at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Reno for many years. Darleen moved with her children to Nevada in 1957, where she worked as an executive secretary at the University of Nevada-Reno, while she attended night school to pursue her master's degree in Zoology. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Bradley, five grandchildren -- Michell, Leah, Wendi, Sam, and Reben, eleven great-grandchildren, her dear daughter-in-law, Penni, and her beloved cat, Sage. She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister Beveryly, and her son, Thomas. Darleen was a woman of grace, accomplishment, and dignity and will be missed by all who knew her. She spent the last two years of her life at the Homestead in Fallon, and loved the care she received and also the kindness of the caregivers.  She was happiest that she was able to keep her cat Sage with her until the end. A private family memorial service is being planned for July 22, 2019, celebrating her 97th birthday. As per her wishes, Darleen will be laid to rest next to her beloved son. We reached out to the writer/submitter and got this info back...hope it's helpful. PBM: Pharmacy Benefit Managers are pharmacies that are owned by insurance companies. (CVS is one.) They negotiate with drug makers to get reduced pricing for medications, but they historically have not passed along those savings to patients. https://www.ftc.gov/system/files/ftc_gov/pdf/pharmacy-benefit-managers-staff-report.pdf MFN: Most Favored Nation pricing is a policy that means a country agrees to offer the same trade concessions (like tariffs or price reductions) to all member nations of the World Trade Organization (WTO). When applied to pharmaceuticals, it could disrupt global access, deter innovation, and obscure the deeper systemic issues in American health care. https://petrieflom.law.harvard.edu/2025/05/22/the-global-risks-of-americas-most-favored-nation-drug-pricing-policy/Comment publication date: 6/23/25, 7:47 AMComment source: L E T T E R TO THE EDITOR
