Movies & More: “The Grinch" and "Last Christmas"

Movies & More: “The Grinch" and "Last Christmas"

Thank you for the great turnout last Thursday for the live music provided by Steve and Raena + Anabelle. Great music for a full house.
This weekend, we have two great holiday movies for your viewing enjoyment - and they are free.

Playing Friday, December 22, and Saturday, December 23, at 6 p.m., is the 2018 animated comedy adventure “The Grinch.” The Grinch and his loyal dog, Max, live a solitary existence inside a cave on Mount Crumpet. His main source of aggravation comes during Christmas when his neighbors in Whoville celebrate the holidays with a bang. When the Whos decide to make Christmas bigger and brighter, the disgruntled Grinch realizes there is only one way to gain peace and quiet. With help from Max, the green grump hatches a scheme to pose as Santa Claus, steal Christmas, and silence the Whos' holiday cheer once and for all. Voices provided by Benedict Cumberbatch, Cameron Seely, Rashida Jones, and Pharrell Williams.

Our second feature each evening, starting at 7 p.m., is the 2019 romance/comedy “Last Christmas.” Nothing seems to go right for young Kate, a frustrated Londoner who works as an elf in a year-round Christmas shop. But things soon take a turn for the better when she meets Tom - a handsome charmer who seems too good to be true. As the city transforms into that most wonderful time of the year, Tom and Kate's growing attraction turns into the best gift of all - a Yuletide romance. Starring Henry Golding, Emilia Clarke, and Emma Thompson.
Our movies this week are graciously sponsored by Sierra Financial. Thank you.

We would like to say thank you to all our sustaining members, sponsors, and volunteers - couldn't do it without you. And we would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

We reached out to the writer/submitter and got this info back...hope it's helpful. PBM: Pharmacy Benefit Managers are pharmacies that are owned by insurance companies. (CVS is one.) They negotiate with drug makers to get reduced pricing for medications, but they historically have not passed along those savings to patients. https://www.ftc.gov/system/files/ftc_gov/pdf/pharmacy-benefit-managers-staff-report.pdf MFN: Most Favored Nation pricing is a policy that means a country agrees to offer the same trade concessions (like tariffs or price reductions) to all member nations of the World Trade Organization (WTO). When applied to pharmaceuticals, it could disrupt global access, deter innovation, and obscure the deeper systemic issues in American health care. https://petrieflom.law.harvard.edu/2025/05/22/the-global-risks-of-americas-most-favored-nation-drug-pricing-policy/Comment publication date: 6/23/25, 7:47 AMComment source: L E T T E R TO THE EDITOR
