Do not miss the artists’ reception for the opening of the 11th Lahontan Valley Fine Arts Invitational Art Show. It is being held at the E. L. Wiegand & Kirk Robertson Galleries in the Oats Park Art Center on Saturday, December 2. Several pieces will be displayed through February 24 and feature talented local and regional artists. Many beautiful works of art are for sale by 33 artists – some professional, some lifelong enthusiasts, and some beginning their journey, but all with incredible vision to share.

Submarine Sue, pictured, was accepted into the show. The piece is a 32” x 48" canvas and is expected to be a showstopper. It is “almost as large as life.” The artist, local photographer, and retired biologist Larry Neel said, “As far as I am concerned, this image is the best photograph I have ever taken of any subject ever.”

The Holiday Art Bar is open on Saturday from 5 to 8. Come and check out the unique works of art and the many one-of-a-kind treasures in the ChArts Art Store. Grab a drink at the Art Bar, mingle with neighbors and artists, and find a special gift just in time for the holidays. For more information, call 775-423-1440.

Comment author: Claude EzzellComment text: Paul was one of the most manifest men I have ever met. He was a good friends with my Dad and always had an entertaining story for the occasion. One of my most favorite stories Paul told dated back to the late 60s or early 70s and it revolved around him killing a deer way out in the mountains. Naturally the deer ran down into a deep canyon and died. Knowing that it would take him forever to haul it out he devised an awesome plan. After preparing the deer he drove back to NAS Fallon and rustled up a SAR crew and they flew out and picked up the deer. Of course it was labeled as a training flight but what the hell in those days you could do that sort of thing. Rest in Peace my friend until we meet again!!Comment publication date: 4/11/24, 1:15 PMComment source: Obituary - LCDR Paul N PflimlinComment author: THughesComment text: So sad to hear.
