Movies & More: Adventure Ahead! Madagascar and Jumanji Playing Friday

Movies & More: Adventure Ahead! Madagascar and Jumanji Playing Friday

Your Community-Owned & Operated Fallon Theatre

Thank you to everyone who attended the Luckey Walker Show and the Community Reunion weekend concert at the theatre.

We are back to the movie business this week; remember, all our movies are free.

Playing Friday, August 18, and Saturday, August 19, we have, at 6 p.m., the 2005 animated family comedy “Madagascar.” Alex, the lion, is the king of the urban jungle, the main attraction at New York's Central Park Zoo. He and his best friends, Marty, the zebra, Melman, the giraffe, and Gloria, the hippo, have spent their whole lives in blissful captivity before an admiring public and with regular meals. Not content to leave well enough alone, Marty lets his curiosity get the better of him and makes his escape to explore the world with the help of some prodigious penguins. Voices provided by Ben Stiller, Chris Rock, and David Schwimmer.

Our second feature on both evenings, starting at 7 p.m., is the original 1995 fantasy adventure “Jumanji.”  A magical board game unleashes a world of adventure on siblings Peter and Judy. While exploring an old mansion, the youngsters find a curious, jungle-themed game called Jumanji in the attic. When they start playing, they free Alan Parrish, who's been stuck in the game's inner world for decades. If they win Jumanji, the kids can free Alan for good, but that means braving giant bugs, ill-mannered monkeys, and stampeding rhinos. Starring Robin Williams, Kirsten Dunst, Bonnie Hunt, and Jonathan Hyde.

Mark your calendars for September 8, as comedy again takes our stage with September Shenanigans featuring Rick D'Elia, Luke Westberg, and host Brian Lee. Tickets are $20 and are available at brianleecomedy.ticketleap.com. The show starts at 7:30 p.m.

Thank you to all our sustaining members, sponsors, and volunteers - we couldn't do it without you!

Comment author: Claude EzzellComment text: Paul was one of the most manifest men I have ever met. He was a good friends with my Dad and always had an entertaining story for the occasion. One of my most favorite stories Paul told dated back to the late 60s or early 70s and it revolved around him killing a deer way out in the mountains. Naturally the deer ran down into a deep canyon and died. Knowing that it would take him forever to haul it out he devised an awesome plan. After preparing the deer he drove back to NAS Fallon and rustled up a SAR crew and they flew out and picked up the deer. Of course it was labeled as a training flight but what the hell in those days you could do that sort of thing. Rest in Peace my friend until we meet again!!Comment publication date: 4/11/24, 1:15 PMComment source: Obituary - LCDR Paul N PflimlinComment author: THughesComment text: So sad to hear.
