The Tenth Judicial District Court convened Tuesday, July 18, with Judge Thomas Stockard presiding.

Wendell Reiger appeared following a settlement conference. DDA Chelsea Sanford told the court that a resolution was unable to be reached. A 3-day trial will be set administratively.
Laura Jean Engleman pleaded guilty to Driving Under the Influence of an Intoxicating Liquor or Controlled or Prohibited Substance, a misdemeanor. Due to the high BAC (.254), a Substance Abuse Evaluation is required. Sentencing was set for August 22.
Refugio Alanis-Sanchez appeared for sentencing. His attorney, Steve Evenson, asked the court to suspend proceedings and allow Alani-Sanchez to attend drug court. The judge continued the case until August 22 to allow the defendant to obtain a Substance Abuse Evaluation to determine if he is eligible for drug court.
Cody Brandt Franklin, in custody, pleaded guilty to 3 Category D Felonies: 1) Coercion with the Use of Physical Force or the Immediate Threat of Physical Force, 2) Assault with a Deadly Weapon, and 3) Ownership or Possession of a Firearm by Certain Prohibited Persons. Each felony carries a possible penalty of 1-6 years in Nevada State Prison and a fine of up to $5,000. Franklin’s defense attorney, Evenson, said the defendant has been accepted to the Salvation Army Program and asked that he be allowed to do so. The judge ordered 2 Pre-Sentence Investigative Reports and set sentencing for October 10. Franklin was ordered to go directly to the program, turn himself in at the Churchill County Sheriff’s Office upon leaving the program, and have no contact with the victim. 
Norma Jean Shell pleaded guilty to the Category B Felony charge of Abuse, Neglect, Endangerment of a Child with a Prior Conviction, which carries a potential penalty of 2-15 years in Nevada State Prison. Shell also pleaded guilty to the Category D Felony of Coercion with the Use of Physical Force or the Immediate Threat of Physical Force with a Firearm or a Deadly Weapon, which carries a potential penalty of 1-6 years in Nevada State Prison and a fine of up to $5,000. PD Jacob Sommer stated the defendant allegedly, while under the influence, placed a firearm in her child’s hands, placed the gun to her own head, and indicated that the child was to shoot her. As a Psychological Risk Assessment is required for the first charge, sentencing was set for October 10.
Crystal Lynn Moore was not present for a Court Services Violation Hearing. Court Services Director Brenda Ingram told the court Moore tested presumptive positive on July 12 and while waiting for law enforcement, Moore fled and failed to appear for her test the next day. The judge ordered a $25,000 cash-only bench warrant, with the additional condition that Moore not be released until she appears in court to address this conduct.
Natisha Mandela Stiner pleaded guilty to a Gross Misdemeanor of Unlawful Acts Relating to Human Excrement or Bodily Fluids without Disease, and to a Gross Misdemeanor of Intimidating a Public Officer Without Threat or Force. PD Wright Noel stated the defendant spit on an officer and told 2 officers that she would kill them. The defendant was sentenced to 236 days in Churchill County Jail for each charge, to run concurrently, and given credit for 236 days served. Fees and assessments were imposed.
Christopher Andrew Clauson, in custody, pleaded guilty to a Category E Felony of Failure to Stop on the Signal of a Peace Officer while Under the Influence, which carries a possible sentence of 1-4 years in Nevada State Prison and a fine of up to $5,000. The judge ordered a Pre-Sentence Investigative Report and set sentencing for October 10.
Heather Lynn Walter, in custody, pleaded guilty to Abuse, Neglect, or Endangerment of a Child Not Causing Substantial Bodily or Mental Injury, a Gross Misdemeanor which carries a potential penalty of 364 days in Churchill County Jail and a fine of up to $2,000. Walter also pleaded guilty to a Category D Felony of Possession of a Controlled Substance a third or subsequent offense, which carries a potential 1-4 years in Nevada State Prison and a fine of up to $20,000. The judge ordered a Pre-Sentence Investigative Report and set sentencing for October 10.
Michelle Nicole Davis, in custody, appeared for sentencing on the charge of Attempt to Commit Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle, which can be sentenced as a Gross Misdemeanor or as a Felony. The judge sentenced the charge as a felony, giving Davis 19-48 months in Nevada State Prison, suspended, ordering 24 months probation. Davis was ordered to enter the Idaho House, complete their program, become gainfully employed within the next 30 days, obtain a Substance Abuse Evaluation, and follow the recommendations of that evaluation. Fees and assessments were imposed.

They strung them along for years until they had no financial choice but to accept and get out. My Dad even hauled water for the Snow ranch trying to stay afloat. May God bless you all.
