Post Office Woes Closer to Being Solved

For the past several weeks, community-wide mail delivery in Churchill County has suffered for multiple reasons. As with many organizations, there is a shortage of employees at our local Fallon Post Office and when you add in several employees taking time off the schedules have to be adjusted to meet the daily staffing levels.

According to local post office employees, there were four delivery drivers off at the same time during the past couple of weeks, but those four are all back and catching up with their routes. Additionally, several new hires are currently being processed and waiting for their start dates.

And, of course, heavy winter storms across the country have kept roads closed and impacted mail deliveries. During the past couple of weeks, as storms have raged across the Midwest shutting down interstates, as well as the heavy storming through the Sierras, mail has not been delivered to the Fallon Post Office on its regular schedule. Several advertising flyers and bulk mail were hung up in the weather but have now been received and are in the process of being delivered.

Post office employees encourage anyone who has not had mail delivered or is missing mail to go to the post office with identification and pick up their mail at the office.

Comment author: Claude EzzellComment text: Paul was one of the most manifest men I have ever met. He was a good friends with my Dad and always had an entertaining story for the occasion. One of my most favorite stories Paul told dated back to the late 60s or early 70s and it revolved around him killing a deer way out in the mountains. Naturally the deer ran down into a deep canyon and died. Knowing that it would take him forever to haul it out he devised an awesome plan. After preparing the deer he drove back to NAS Fallon and rustled up a SAR crew and they flew out and picked up the deer. Of course it was labeled as a training flight but what the hell in those days you could do that sort of thing. Rest in Peace my friend until we meet again!!Comment publication date: 4/11/24, 1:15 PMComment source: Obituary - LCDR Paul N PflimlinComment author: THughesComment text: So sad to hear.
