Frey Ranch Expands Product Line

Frey Ranch Expands Product Line
An assortment of whiskeys is available for tasting

The Frey Ranch Distillery’s reputation is growing with the production of its award-winning bourbon and rye whiskeys. The release of their Single Barrel Rye, part of the ranch's celebration of this year's harvest, recently sold out after just a few weeks. The release of its Single Barrel Bourbon earlier this year achieved the same result, selling out quickly as the demand for its products grew.

At a recent tasting, one of the bartenders described the Single Grain 100% Wheat Whiskey as having a creamy start with a long whiskey finish, and she was most certainly right. According to the Frey ranch website, https://freyranch.com/ Owner Colby Frey, Master Distiller Russell Wedlake, and their distilling team have created products with “intense aromas of wood and rye spice, vanilla, and caramel lead into a glorious perfume of grapefruit zest, almond, and honey. Full-bodied and buttery with plenty of black pepper spice and ginger up front. A long lingering finish brings velvety honey, raisin, and cacao ribs.”

Their Single Barrel collections have included four-grain, three-grain, and single-grain mash whiskeys. They are bottled at barrel strength, meaning that no water has been added to reduce the alcohol by volume, resulting in a proof above 130%. They also offer a Private Barrel Select program for those interested in purchasing an entire single barrel. All of their grains are slow-grown on the ranch making them an estate distillery.

The collection of Frey Ranch Distillery products includes Straight Bourbon Whiskey, Straight Rye Whiskey, Single Barrel Straight Bourbon Whiskey, Single Barrel Straight Rye Whiskey, and the Single Grain Series 100% Wheat Whiskey. Products can be purchased at the ranch where an assortment of Frey Ranch swag is also available.

Ashley Colby posted on Facebook about a new product for National Coffee Day, “I am so excited to announce that we have a new barrel-aged coffee brewing with Blind Dog Coffee. Aged in our Frey Ranch whiskey barrels and then roasted to perfection, Blind Dog Coffee beans are selected with the utmost quality, just like how we grow our whiskey grains here at the ranch. These limited-edition coffee bags will be available soon.”

The ranch is growing in size as well by adding a new barrel house and a new fermentation room. Growing their product lines, growing in physical size, growing all of their ingredients – yes, indeed there is a lot of growing going on at the ranch. The tastings and tours are free every Saturday from 12 - 4 p.m. They are also planning a Whiskey Harvest festival for Saturday, October 15 from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. that will include seasonal produce from local farmers, food provided by Medley Food Company, and other family-friendly activities.

The distillery has been covered by news sites such as The Fallon Post, Travel Nevada, Edible Reno Tahoe, The Whiskey Wash, Bourbon Women, Market Business Insider, and Market Watch.

They strung them along for years until they had no financial choice but to accept and get out. My Dad even hauled water for the Snow ranch trying to stay afloat. May God bless you all. I truly pray it works out for you.Comment publication date: 3/28/26, 9:22 PMComment source: Local Rancher Says Navy Land Expansion is Devastating His Family RanchComment author: Lynn JohnsonComment text: I remember your mother well; she was a lovely and kind woman. I see glimpses of your face in the years worn onto my dad. It makes me feel more connected to you in some way. I remember the familiar kindness from you that I know in my dad. I would’ve really liked to have a good conversation. I only have a handful of memories with you, but you were loving, and you were kind. I wish I was able to say more. If I am someone to you, I hope I make you proud. Thank you Aunt for this sweet post.Comment publication date: 3/27/26, 12:11 AMComment source: Obituary -- Randolph Floris Banovich C Comment author: RBCComment text: The Navy should reimburse the market cost of replacing the grazing land they are taking.
