The past 14-day total number of COVID cases has the community at 131 people testing positive for the virus. New cases are being diagnosed at a rate of seven per day and according to the State of Nevada dashboard (https://nvhealthresponse.nv.gov) there is one COVID patient in the hospital. Numbers indicated there are currently 84 residents positive with the virus.

According to Public Information Officer for Churchill County Anne McMillin, the county is still offering testing and vaccines per the schedule on the county website. “As of a few weeks ago, anyone aged six months and up is now eligible for a vaccine. We have set aside vaccine times specifically for the littles during vaccination days at the Life Center.” The schedule is available online.

The CDC also recommends if someone tests positive for COVID, seeing a doctor as soon as possible to discuss taking antiviral treatments and/or monoclonal antibodies. These treatments are available and can reduce the chances of being hospitalized or dying from the disease. Medications to treat COVID should be started as soon as possible to be effective.

As always, hand-washing remains one of the most effective ways to prevent the spread of disease.

We reached out to the writer/submitter and got this info back...hope it's helpful. PBM: Pharmacy Benefit Managers are pharmacies that are owned by insurance companies. (CVS is one.) They negotiate with drug makers to get reduced pricing for medications, but they historically have not passed along those savings to patients. https://www.ftc.gov/system/files/ftc_gov/pdf/pharmacy-benefit-managers-staff-report.pdf MFN: Most Favored Nation pricing is a policy that means a country agrees to offer the same trade concessions (like tariffs or price reductions) to all member nations of the World Trade Organization (WTO). When applied to pharmaceuticals, it could disrupt global access, deter innovation, and obscure the deeper systemic issues in American health care. https://petrieflom.law.harvard.edu/2025/05/22/the-global-risks-of-americas-most-favored-nation-drug-pricing-policy/Comment publication date: 6/23/25, 7:47 AMComment source: L E T T E R TO THE EDITOR
