Obituary -- Donald Fisk

Obituary -- Donald Fisk
Donald Fisk

Donald Fisk, devoted husband, loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather passed away at the age of 82 on September 9, 2021.

Donald Ray Fisk was born on February 23, 1939, in Reno, Nevada to Marjorie Fisk and Raymond Shoffner. He was raised on the Charlie and Leila Fisk family ranch in Fallon, Nevada, and was a proud graduate of Churchill County High School, CCHS. Donald honorably served his county in the United States Marine Corps for four years. Afterward he moved to Hawthorne, Nevada, and worked as a lineman for the Mineral County Power Company. This is where he met the love of his life Patricia Doreen (Sharp). They were married on January 1, 1963. Donald then went on to work at the BASIC plant in Luning where he became the plant manager. When BASIC closed, he went to work at Mount Grant General Hospital as the maintenance supervisor where he retired on September 23, 2000.

Donald was a family man and had an unwavering love for his wife, children, and grandchildren. He and Patricia supported their children and grandchildren in all they did. They went to every sporting event, music performance, or school function that they could possibly attend. Don’s love shined especially bright on Christmas and other holidays. He loved to decorate and his Christmas decorations always brought a smile to his children and grandchildren's faces.

He is survived by his children Brad (Stacy) Fisk, Jami (Travis) Rowlett, and Juli Fisk. His Grandchildren Deena (David) Millsap, Nicolette (Jason) Wicks, Geddy (Taylor) Fisk, Hannah Fisk, Taylen Wachsmuth, Treven Wachsmuth, Danner Rowlett, Jayona Kimmins, and Drake Rowlett. Great-Grandchildren Liam, Clara, Oliver, Elizabeth, Layden, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Marjorie and Charles Ferguson, and his brother David Ferguson.

The celebration of life will be held at Joe’s Tavern/Restaurant on Friday, October 29 from 1:00 to 3:00 PM.

The memories remain of a soft-spoken, seemingly unassuming but determined individual who absolutely knew what path she wanted to take in life, and followed it. Her instinctive reactions, which highlighted her steadfast level of love and caring for her family, friends and all living things found in nature, hold lessons for us all. An unexpected splash of her self-deprecating humor, coupled with uncanny timing, will always bring a smile. For me, Marie lives on in the sighting of a Black-crowned night heron in the tules, the bloom of a beautiful spring flower and, most poetically, in the struggle of wildlife photographers handling their very large camera lenses.
