Obituary -- Herbert William Plants

Herbert William Plants passed away peacefully with his son at his side at Highland Manor on July 13, 2021.

Herbert was born in Ohio on Nov. 5, 1940, to William and Hazel Plants, missionaries to the Fallon Paiute Shoshone Tribe. He married the love of his life Naomi on August 21, 1959. They had 4 children: Timothy, Mark, Rebecca, and Martha. He worked at Safeway, preached at the Stillwater Indian Church, and helped his dad with missionary work.  He also worked for coke distributing and drove the Coke Truck for 9 years. He loved the work among the Native Americans.

He was a friend to everyone he met. He loved his grandchildren and family was important to him.  So important, that in 1974 when his children wanted to attend a Christian school, he moved the family down to Southern California so they could attend. He pastored the Hesperia Bible Missionary Church for about 20 years and worked at Safeway to support himself.

He loved to fish, hunt, and go camping. He also enjoyed traveling and riding a motorcycle. He was known for his smile and friendliness. He was always willing to lend a hand to others.

He was preceded in death by his wife Naomi, then second wife Alva, and third wife Mary; also, his daughter Beckie. He is survived by his brother Walter Plants (Sara), three children: Timothy (Sandra) Plants and their children Chadwick (Nicole) Aubrey, Samuel, Moses and Benjamin; Mary (Chad) Marshall and Evan; Martha, Justin and Andrew; Hannah (Charles) Parmenter, Seth, Naomi and Janae; Daniel (Brie) and children Kaenan, Lillyonna, and Aberum; Joanna (Scott) Johnson; Matthew (Elodie) Hutchinson, and Isaac Hutchinson.

He is survived by Mark Plants and sons Larry, Dustin and Dillon. Gary Bedard (husband of daughter Beckie) and their children: Katie (Clyde) Seidel, and children Austyn, Jessica, Morgan, Jasmine and Anthony; Raymond (Pamela Resurreccion) and children Giselle Cunanan and Brie Cunanan; Justin (Sandra) and children Caiden and Jaelynn; Bethany Bedard (Morgan Gonzalez) and children Jack and Camila; Charity (Earl) Kerr; Ben (Kristen) and children AJ, Madison, Mileigh, Bradley, Vivian, Benjamin, Levi and Gabby; Desiree (Brandon) Baker and Jessie; Jennifer Montgomery and children Brooklynn Montgomery and Jayden Watts. Martha (Danny) Kintzler and children Michael (Heather) Swift and children Judah and Titus; Bryan Swift, Patrick Swift; Heather (Joe) Sampson and daughter Anabella.

A celebration of life is planned for Sunday, August 15 at 4 pm at The Gardens Funeral Home, 2949 Austin Highway in Fallon, NV. 775-423-8928.

They strung them along for years until they had no financial choice but to accept and get out. My Dad even hauled water for the Snow ranch trying to stay afloat. May God bless you all.
