Entertainment Reviews -- The Wingman Recommends

Entertainment Reviews -- The Wingman Recommends

This weekend I went to this really great event with some girlfriends and my date. I don’t believe I would be a great wingman if I didn’t pass along to you folks about how wonderful it was. First, let me just share a little fact about myself. I am where your chain-mail-in-messenger and anything lovely and green (plant wise) go to die. I do love to have fresh produce to use – not just to look at on my butcher block island. From what I am told, I’m a reasonably good cook. I also love live music more than life itself and will travel to the ends of the earth to find it these days. Then, there is my liking for a craft cocktail or a good draft beer or two. So, when I can find it all in one place, it’s pretty much a Mecca for me. So, I did find it. And now you can find it too at the Green Goddess Farmer’s Market held at the Lariat Patio of the Churchill Arts Council at Oats Park.

As I approached the event, I could see a large number of vendors in the grass area. Everything from a booth selling amazing one-of-a-kind sterling silver jewelry with semi-precious stone pieces (Desert Air Jewelry) to produce, to seedlings, and baked goods.

Amazing music was playing in the background who I recognized quickly as the Will Shamberger Band, a group of very talented local rock-blues musicians who sing original songs and covers. My favorite cover they sang Saturday night was All the Lonely People. I have been lucky to hear them at open mic nights here in Fallon or at other events they have been hired for all over northern Nevada. I purchased one of their CDs and found out I could download an EP on my favorite streaming services.

We all then made our way into the Art Center bar and picked up a wonderful craft cocktail before heading out to see which one of the food trucks we were all going to hit up. Was it going to be 5 Star Indian Food or Wild West Burgers? Both are amazing and neither would disappoint. With our bellies full and our purchases of produce made, it was time to sit back relax and enjoy the atmosphere with plenty to take in.

Couples and toddlers alike were dancing till their heart’s content to wonderful live music that has been all to missing in our lives over this last year. Families were taking advantage of the open art exhibits in the Arts Council’s renovated Oats Park School. If you haven’t seen it, you should definitely take a peek and count yourself lucky to see one of Nevada’s true treasures.

Most of all the LAUGHTER and noise of conversation between friends and loved ones being together and enjoying one another truly brought the community back together. It has been far too long. I’m looking forward to this event next month. You will definitely find me there.

Check for the dates on the Churchill Arts Council website @churchillarts.org. The market will be the first Saturday of each month through September from 3 pm to 8 pm. There will be a different band each month, with the same food trucks mentioned above. Of course, there will be different vendors attending but there will always be something for everyone. This wingman recommends you don’t miss it.

We reached out to the writer/submitter and got this info back...hope it's helpful. PBM: Pharmacy Benefit Managers are pharmacies that are owned by insurance companies. (CVS is one.) They negotiate with drug makers to get reduced pricing for medications, but they historically have not passed along those savings to patients. https://www.ftc.gov/system/files/ftc_gov/pdf/pharmacy-benefit-managers-staff-report.pdf MFN: Most Favored Nation pricing is a policy that means a country agrees to offer the same trade concessions (like tariffs or price reductions) to all member nations of the World Trade Organization (WTO). When applied to pharmaceuticals, it could disrupt global access, deter innovation, and obscure the deeper systemic issues in American health care. https://petrieflom.law.harvard.edu/2025/05/22/the-global-risks-of-americas-most-favored-nation-drug-pricing-policy/Comment publication date: 6/23/25, 7:47 AMComment source: L E T T E R TO THE EDITOR
