Bernard "Bernie" Wayne Schuyler - Obituary

Bernard “Bernie” Wayne Schuyler lost his final battle to pneumonia in Reno, NV on 21 February 2019.  Bernie was born on 22 July 1942 at the Fetters’ Mid-Wife facility in Fort Lupton, CO to Murrel Carl and Alice Bernice (Weber) Schuyler.
He lived in Fort Lupton (1940), Lamita, CA (1941), Craig, CO (1948), and back to Fort Lupton in 1950 until Murrel began working at the Castle Creamery in Eagle, CO about 1955.  The family then moved to Gypsum, CO about 1959 and Bernie joined the US Navy about 1960.  While in the Navy Bernie first married Nancy Sandra Slaughter in 1964, and son Lynk was born in 1965.
Bernie married “Benie” Fredesvenda Tuazon Custodio, his beloved wife of 50 years, on 23 February 1969 in San Antonio, Zambales, Republic of Philippines, and four children were born: Brian Lee (1968), Maria Lynn (1970), Joseph Michael (1977) and Kody Romain (1979). The family moved to Kodiak for Coast Guard duty in 1978.
As Mike Junge correctly labeled Bernie, the "Adventurer and Patriot" began his military career as radioman on ship off Viet Nam, then on submarines in the Pacific, and finally with the Coast Guard in Guam, New Orleans, LA and Kodiak Island, AK.  He spent time riding motorcycles and then bulls in Japan for a wild-west show, as a policeman, serious martial artist, and world-class diver.
After retiring from the military, he took on the challenge of being a commercial fisherman in the dangerous waters of Alaska by buying a 45 foot fishing vessel and started fishing commercially for halibut. When that became too much of a gamble he decided to try his skills as a salesman for Motorola and traveled all around Alaska. After retiring from Motorola he went to school for home inspection and went to work for Owens Inspection for a couple of years before he decided to run his own construction business in Alaska. After being bored with that he decided to ramrod man-camp construction crews on the North-Slope of Alaska and in the Bakken Oil Field in North Dakota until a serious stroke sidelined him for some time.  After recuperating from the stroke, he and Benie retired about 2016 in Fallon, NV.
A friend of Bernie’s was a friend for life; he never forgot you. But his family was always what he wanted to talk about most.  He loved them, was proud of them and their accomplishments and followed their every move.  Five children, 12 grandchildren, and three great grandchildren kept him busy.
Bernie was proceeded in death by his parents, Murrel and Alice Schuyler, first wife Nancy Slaughter, and son Lynk.  He is survived by his second wife, Benie, children Brian (Tammy) and Maria Davis (Norman) of Eagle River, AK, Joe (Megan) of Green Lake, WA and Kody (Angielyn) of Bremerton, WA; 11 grandchildren, Alicia Schuyler Pierce, Shayna Schuyler, Brian Schuyler, Tory Schuyler Mayer, Brody Schuyler, Chelsea Schuyler Lattif, Spencer Davis, Schuyler Davis, Shayden Davis, Brock Schuyler and Katelyn Schuyler; 3 great grandchildren and lots of cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services with military honors will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2018 at 1:00 pm at Smith Family Funeral Home, 505 Rio Vista Dr. in Fallon.  423-2255.

We reached out to the writer/submitter and got this info back...hope it's helpful. PBM: Pharmacy Benefit Managers are pharmacies that are owned by insurance companies. (CVS is one.) They negotiate with drug makers to get reduced pricing for medications, but they historically have not passed along those savings to patients. https://www.ftc.gov/system/files/ftc_gov/pdf/pharmacy-benefit-managers-staff-report.pdf MFN: Most Favored Nation pricing is a policy that means a country agrees to offer the same trade concessions (like tariffs or price reductions) to all member nations of the World Trade Organization (WTO). When applied to pharmaceuticals, it could disrupt global access, deter innovation, and obscure the deeper systemic issues in American health care. https://petrieflom.law.harvard.edu/2025/05/22/the-global-risks-of-americas-most-favored-nation-drug-pricing-policy/Comment publication date: 6/23/25, 7:47 AMComment source: L E T T E R TO THE EDITOR
