Dandelion Express Blows Many Wishes Out to Fallon

Dandelion Express Blows Many Wishes Out to Fallon

There is a new, welcoming color on the south end of Taylor Street, a new name on the shop, Dandelion Express, and inside will be found a new owner. Celestia Blakey is proud to have taken over the ownership of what many Fallon residents have known for years as Doreen’s Desert Rose Florist.

Originally from Battle Mountain, Celestia graduated high school and then headed to Reno for a short while before coming to Fallon in 2003. With years of experience in bookkeeping she is eager to have the opportunity to be a business owner in the community. Though the flower business is new to Celestia, she is comfortable with the management of a business and the bookkeeping involved.

She first found out that the business might be for sale from her son, Johnathan, who was doing some electrical work at the business for Doreen. Johnathan and Doreen struck up a conversation, and in that conversation, Johnathan learned that Doreen might be interested in selling. Knowing that Celestia has always enjoyed flower and likes being around them, when Johnathan got home that evening, he informed Celestia that she probably ought to look into this opportunity. They met, talked, agreed, and the business changed ownership. (Doreen Hill, the prior owner, is coming in a couple days a week to help Celestia learn the flower side of the business.)

There are no plans for bigger changes. The friendly staff will remain the same, colors inside may change with time, and there will be an addition of some specialty items for those special holidays when one struggles to find a unique gift. Celestia is also toying with the idea of adding some chocolate - maybe truffles or coated strawberries, now and then.

She looks forward to continuing the standard of business everyone is used to from the shop, and hopes that the dandelions of the new business will spread everyone’s wishes and the bouquets will continue to share warmth and care.

They strung them along for years until they had no financial choice but to accept and get out. My Dad even hauled water for the Snow ranch trying to stay afloat. May God bless you all. I truly pray it works out for you.Comment publication date: 3/28/26, 9:22 PMComment source: Local Rancher Says Navy Land Expansion is Devastating His Family RanchComment author: Lynn JohnsonComment text: I remember your mother well; she was a lovely and kind woman. I see glimpses of your face in the years worn onto my dad. It makes me feel more connected to you in some way. I remember the familiar kindness from you that I know in my dad. I would’ve really liked to have a good conversation. I only have a handful of memories with you, but you were loving, and you were kind. I wish I was able to say more. If I am someone to you, I hope I make you proud.
