Enel Generates Power for the Super Bowl

Enel Generates Power for the Super Bowl
Enel Green Power is the company that owns the geothermal/solar plant in Stillwater, 17 miles east of Fallon. They also own other solar, hydro, geothermal, and wind generation plants around the globe, but it’s their Thunder Ranch wind farm in Oklahoma providing the electricity for today’s Super Bowl. According to EcoWatch, which received a press release from Anheuser-Busch, the company “will supply Atlanta’s Super Bowl Host Committee with renewable energy attributes to power the equivalent of the city’s energy consumption for six days, including during the largest sporting event of the year.” Super Bowl LIII is being held in Atlanta this year. In 2017 Anheuser-Busch signed a long-term power purchase agreement for 152.5 megawatts of output from Enel’s 298-megawatt facility in Oklahoma. To promote their environmental stance, Budweiser switched all its U.S. beer brewing to renewable energy last year. They debut a one-minute ad during the Super Bowl called, “Wind Never Felt Better,” to promote their “eco-friendly makeover,” according to EcoWatch. While Atlanta has adopted a 100 percent renewable electricity goal, and is the biggest city to do so, Churchill County has been powered by 100 renewable electricity for several years due to the geothermal and solar plants located here.

We reached out to the writer/submitter and got this info back...hope it's helpful. PBM: Pharmacy Benefit Managers are pharmacies that are owned by insurance companies. (CVS is one.) They negotiate with drug makers to get reduced pricing for medications, but they historically have not passed along those savings to patients. https://www.ftc.gov/system/files/ftc_gov/pdf/pharmacy-benefit-managers-staff-report.pdf MFN: Most Favored Nation pricing is a policy that means a country agrees to offer the same trade concessions (like tariffs or price reductions) to all member nations of the World Trade Organization (WTO). When applied to pharmaceuticals, it could disrupt global access, deter innovation, and obscure the deeper systemic issues in American health care. https://petrieflom.law.harvard.edu/2025/05/22/the-global-risks-of-americas-most-favored-nation-drug-pricing-policy/Comment publication date: 6/23/25, 7:47 AMComment source: L E T T E R TO THE EDITOR
