Obituary -- Dennis Jensen
Dennis Jensen

Dennis Jensen, age 75, left us on July 20, 2020.

Dennis was born September 22, 1944 in Reno, Nevada to Donald “Bud” and Alma Jensen. In his early years Dennis enjoyed playing baseball with his brothers, Mike and Dale. In high school, he continued his love of sports in football and baseball where he received many state awards. He also enjoyed team roping and hunting. Dennis attended Churchill County schools where he met the love of his life, Londa, and they began dating in the 8th grade, in 1959. He was the student body president his junior and senior years of high school. Dennis and Londa graduated from Churchill County High School in 1962. They were married in 1964 and started their married life together at the Cottonwood Ranch in Wells, Nevada. Their first daughter, Keri, was born in 1965. Dennis then attended the University of Nevada, Reno and graduated in 1969 majoring in animal science. Their second daughter, Allyson “Ally”, was born in 1970.

Dennis and his wife, Londa, moved to Minden, Nevada in 1970 where he began working for the Dangberg Ranch as a cattle foreman and later became the ranch manager. He remained with the Dangberg Ranch for nineteen years and three different owners. While at the Dangberg Ranch, Dennis and Londa bought their own bunch of cattle and started the Jensen Cattle Company. During his employment at Dangberg, Dennis became one of the original founders of the Allerman Upper Virginia Irrigation Company. He, and a handful of other Carson Valley ranchers, wrote the by-laws for the irrigation company which is still in effect for many Carson Valley land and water owners. He also served as the original president of the company while Londa was the bookkeeper.

Dennis left the Dangberg Ranch in 1989. He then worked for the Washoe Tribe as the feedlot manager until 1998. During this time, Dennis continued to raise his own cattle and his two daughters. He was involved in his daughters’ organizations of 4-H, FFA, high school rodeo, and school sports. He served as a coach, director and state high school rodeo president.
In 2005, Dennis returned to what was the Dangberg Ranch, but is now Park Cattle Company to serve as the ranch manager. He completed his ranch manager career in 2013 and moved to Smith Valley, Nevada where he continued to raise his own cattle.

Dennis was known for his greatest accomplishments which were his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He enjoyed watching Smith Valley sports and was known by many students and parents as one of their biggest fans. He attended many livestock shows and ranch rodeos where everyone looked forward to his big smile and encouraging words. Dennis was also known for his knowledge and passion for the rural cowboy lifestyle as a rancher. He dedicated much time to promoting the ranching industry to young people and to his community. His sense of humor and his subtle pieces of advice will be greatly missed.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Bud and Alma Jensen, and Grandmother Nonnie (Nellie Jensen). He is survived by his wife, Londa Jensen; daughters Keri (Dan) Pommerening and Ally (Todd) Sceirine; grandchildren Charmi (Tyler) Mitchell, Sage (Kaitlin) Pommerening, Chase (Rachel) Wortman, Josy (Tel) Pickett, Jackie Sceirine, and Dante Sceirine; and great grandchildren Hayden Pommerening and Kaysen Pommerening; brothers Mike (Linda) Jensen and Dale (Linda) Jensen and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Celebration of Dennis’s Life will be held on August 8 at 26 Wellington Cutoff in Wellington, Nevada at 1:00 pm. A Smith Valley High School scholarship will be set up in Dennis’s name in lieu of flowers. For more information contact Keri Pommerening or Ally Sceirine.

We reached out to the writer/submitter and got this info back...hope it's helpful. PBM: Pharmacy Benefit Managers are pharmacies that are owned by insurance companies. (CVS is one.) They negotiate with drug makers to get reduced pricing for medications, but they historically have not passed along those savings to patients. https://www.ftc.gov/system/files/ftc_gov/pdf/pharmacy-benefit-managers-staff-report.pdf MFN: Most Favored Nation pricing is a policy that means a country agrees to offer the same trade concessions (like tariffs or price reductions) to all member nations of the World Trade Organization (WTO). When applied to pharmaceuticals, it could disrupt global access, deter innovation, and obscure the deeper systemic issues in American health care. https://petrieflom.law.harvard.edu/2025/05/22/the-global-risks-of-americas-most-favored-nation-drug-pricing-policy/Comment publication date: 6/23/25, 7:47 AMComment source: L E T T E R TO THE EDITOR
