The Business Pivot -- Cafe' to Pantry

Country Club Cafe' Opens Up Online Ordering for Basic Staples -- FallonPantry.Square.Site
The Business Pivot -- Cafe' to Pantry

Cori Nowalk-Egger runs her family business, Country Club Café, with the help of her husband and daughter, from inside the clubhouse at the local golf course. Cori has opened up her business to help local families have an easy access to some of the more common grocery staples.

When the virus hit, Cori felt that she needed to find something to do to keep herself busy. “I had a couple friends send messages to see if I could still get basic stapes, which I could. I could still make orders.” Cori explained. Those questions sent her into a discussion with her husband, Hill, about how maybe they could help the community and also support some of their distributors. Since they were still able to place orders, it was decided that they would open a site where the community could place online orders for some of those basic food needs.

Most of the products come from venders out of the Reno area and are restaurant quality products. These products come in a greater quantity than some people may be use to storing. There are no small, individual packages that one often finds at the local grocery store. Cori has also been able to offer local products from Rau Bees and the dairy products from San Hill Dairy.

This is a delivery only service. They provide ‘No contact’ deliveries. Orders can be placed at http://fallonpantry.square.site. When you order online, they will collect the contact information (address and phone number), and once the order is packaged, it is set on the front porch, the doorbell rung, and the delivery person walks away. They are always respectful of the social distancing guidelines. Deliveries are on Mondays and Fridays. Cori tires to take off around 10 AM and finishes up around 6 PM. Sometimes that schedule may vary a bit as trucks don’t always make scheduled times in from Reno, and situations come up that change the flow of the day. She asks that customers please be patient with them. They are trying to get the packages delivered as efficiently as possible.

This service has given Cori and her family moments of enjoyment as they receive some positive feedback from residents who they have helped out and realize this is also helping to keep their own business floating. But, they cannot wait to deliver the last package. “That means my restaurant is back open, and we’re back to serving the public in the way that we are the most comfortable with.” But in the meantime, they are glad to be part of a community that offers so much support to each other.

They strung them along for years until they had no financial choice but to accept and get out. My Dad even hauled water for the Snow ranch trying to stay afloat. May God bless you all. I truly pray it works out for you.Comment publication date: 3/28/26, 9:22 PMComment source: Local Rancher Says Navy Land Expansion is Devastating His Family RanchComment author: Lynn JohnsonComment text: I remember your mother well; she was a lovely and kind woman. I see glimpses of your face in the years worn onto my dad. It makes me feel more connected to you in some way. I remember the familiar kindness from you that I know in my dad. I would’ve really liked to have a good conversation. I only have a handful of memories with you, but you were loving, and you were kind. I wish I was able to say more. If I am someone to you, I hope I make you proud.
