Fallon, Nv. -- We often hear that hard times can bring out the best in some people. Well, that certainly is the case when you look at the owners of Running Iron Café located at 715 S. Taylor Street in Fallon, as they offer free breakfasts to the youth of Fallon.

When owner Shelly Gallagher first heard about the schools closing, she talked it over with her partner, Ashley Bowman, and they decided that they were going to take lunch over to the cafeteria workers at Churchill County High School and Numa Elementary. This was their way to thank the workers, on that first day, for providing students out of school with breakfast.

From there, the two partners decided that they wanted to offer more to their community. As they talked it over, they decided to offer a free breakfast to any youth, up to age 18 years. That breakfast would consist of 1 pancake, 1 egg, and 1 piece of bacon. At times there might also be a milk from the local dairy, Sand Hill Dairy. The business has a drive-up window where the breakfast can be picked up, or they are even willing to deliver if that is needed. Breakfast is offered Monday through Friday from 7 AM to 10 AM.

Ashley and Shelly have set their business up to support other local business owners. “All our eggs come from locally owned Plant Love Homestead and much of our produce is from Pick’n Grinning,” Shelly proudly said. The partners have felt a great deal of support from their community and have enjoyed the work involved to bring their business to life. Even in this uncertain time, they are happy to give back as they feel they have gained so much.

At this time, they are serving about 40 breakfast a day to youth, and they will continue this program as long as there is the need. Anyone that would like to help them with this support to our local youth is welcome to drop off a donation at the café.

Running Iron is open seven days a week for delivery, curbsite take-out, and they have a drive up window. Their phone number is 867-2031 for hours and ordering.

We reached out to the writer/submitter and got this info back...hope it's helpful. PBM: Pharmacy Benefit Managers are pharmacies that are owned by insurance companies. (CVS is one.) They negotiate with drug makers to get reduced pricing for medications, but they historically have not passed along those savings to patients. https://www.ftc.gov/system/files/ftc_gov/pdf/pharmacy-benefit-managers-staff-report.pdf MFN: Most Favored Nation pricing is a policy that means a country agrees to offer the same trade concessions (like tariffs or price reductions) to all member nations of the World Trade Organization (WTO). When applied to pharmaceuticals, it could disrupt global access, deter innovation, and obscure the deeper systemic issues in American health care. https://petrieflom.law.harvard.edu/2025/05/22/the-global-risks-of-americas-most-favored-nation-drug-pricing-policy/Comment publication date: 6/23/25, 7:47 AMComment source: L E T T E R TO THE EDITOR
