Testing in Churchill County -- No COVID-19 Yet
The latest from Churchill County officials this morning regarding COVID-19 testing, reports a total of 34 tests given, with all of those coming back negative. According to Jim Barbee, Churchill County manager, “We’re getting numbers directly from Banner (Banner Churchill Community Hospital) and so far, Churchill County still has no confirmed positive cases of the virus.” The Naval Air Station tests are being administered through Banner as well and included in those numbers. Barbee is waiting to hear back from Renown for results from any tests that were administered through their clinic here. He said that Renown reports their numbers to the health district in Washoe County. The County plans to start posting regular numbers and data directly on their website. “Ultimately, it’s good, we’ve had quite a few tests and no positives. We’re going to have a positive, we know that, and then we’ll reevaluate our planning. The last three weeks we’ve been extremely focused on planning and being prepared with the triage tent at the hospital and finding resources,” said Barbee. “As this thing develops, we will keep shifting and re-planning.”       We need your support now more than ever -- as our small business community is hit, so is our advertising support -- if you are able to support local, independent news, now is the time to click here to contribute to The Fallon Post, so we can continue to bring you up-to-the-minute information. We reached out to the writer/submitter and got this info back...hope it's helpful. PBM: Pharmacy Benefit Managers are pharmacies that are owned by insurance companies. (CVS is one.) They negotiate with drug makers to get reduced pricing for medications, but they historically have not passed along those savings to patients. https://www.ftc.gov/system/files/ftc_gov/pdf/pharmacy-benefit-managers-staff-report.pdf MFN: Most Favored Nation pricing is a policy that means a country agrees to offer the same trade concessions (like tariffs or price reductions) to all member nations of the World Trade Organization (WTO). When applied to pharmaceuticals, it could disrupt global access, deter innovation, and obscure the deeper systemic issues in American health care. https://petrieflom.law.harvard.edu/2025/05/22/the-global-risks-of-americas-most-favored-nation-drug-pricing-policy/Comment publication date: 6/23/25, 7:47 AMComment source: L E T T E R TO THE EDITOR
