Obituary -- Lamar Deon Pomeroy
LaMar Deon Pomeroy was born October 1, 1940 in Fallon, Nevada on E. Front St. to Charley & Alton Pomeroy.  When he was a year and half old they moved to 143 E. Stillwater Ave.  He lived at the Stillwater Ranch in Stillwater until August 1955 and went to the Stillwater School.  He rode a horse his grandfather pulled the milk wagon with to school. He lived four miles from the school, and after the first grade he graduated to a bicycle.  His grandfather, George W. Pomeroy, owned the Pomeroy and sons Dairy and delivered milk to people in the community. LaMar graduated from Churchill County High School in 1958.  He graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno in 1965 with a BA degree in Agricultural Education and started teaching at Churchill County High School.  He quit college while working on his Masters Degree because the school was in desperate need of a teacher.  He taught for 28 years.  He taught metal shop for four years then started teaching math and science at CCHS. On Feb. 8, 1958 he played the piano to promote the opening of KOLO channel 8.  In 1961 he was the secretary/treasurer for Lambda Delta Sigma Officer.  During his 4th year in college he was called to the Great Lakes Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  He was an avid car buff and politically active in the Tea Party. He married Dixie Hare from Fillmore, Utah on August 15, 1969, they celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary this past year.  They have a daughter and three sons. He inherited six sisters-in-law's and three brothers-in-laws. The family would like to thank all those from Home Health and Hospice who came and helped take care of LaMar for the past several years.  The CNA's, nurses, and therapist have been a blessing beyond compare.  We appreciate all those that have helped in our time of need. LaMar was always helping others who were in need. Arrangements are with Smith Family Funeral Home  (775) 423-2255       Sign up to receive updates and the Friday File email notices. We reached out to the writer/submitter and got this info back...hope it's helpful. PBM: Pharmacy Benefit Managers are pharmacies that are owned by insurance companies. (CVS is one.) They negotiate with drug makers to get reduced pricing for medications, but they historically have not passed along those savings to patients. https://www.ftc.gov/system/files/ftc_gov/pdf/pharmacy-benefit-managers-staff-report.pdf MFN: Most Favored Nation pricing is a policy that means a country agrees to offer the same trade concessions (like tariffs or price reductions) to all member nations of the World Trade Organization (WTO). When applied to pharmaceuticals, it could disrupt global access, deter innovation, and obscure the deeper systemic issues in American health care. https://petrieflom.law.harvard.edu/2025/05/22/the-global-risks-of-americas-most-favored-nation-drug-pricing-policy/Comment publication date: 6/23/25, 7:47 AMComment source: L E T T E R TO THE EDITOR
