The Fallon City Council approved the purchase of property at 415 N. Maine St. during the regular June 16 meeting, authorizing the acquisition of a parcel adjacent to Pioneer Park for $350,000 as part of the city's ongoing efforts to secure the site.
Council members unanimously approved the purchase and sale agreement on a 3-0 vote with Ralph T. Bradley Jr. and Linda J. Bradley, trustees of the Bradley Family Trust. The agreement includes a $350,000 purchase price, $8,750 in realtor fees, and related escrow costs.
The council also approved a parcel map request submitted by Black Rhino Holdings LLC, creating four parcels from property located within the city.
Council members later received the Fallon Police Department's monthly report for May.
The department reported 44 arrests during the month, including 12 felony or gross misdemeanor arrests, 18 misdemeanor arrests, three DUI arrests, eight juvenile arrests, and two domestic violence arrests. Police volunteers contributed 104 hours of service during the month.
According to the report, officers responded to 755 calls for service in May. The department also issued 15 traffic citations and 110 warnings.
Police personnel participated in a variety of community activities throughout the month, including traffic escorts for school athletic teams, a tour of the police department for Sage Academy students, traffic control for Oasis Academy students attending a park event, and support at the Top Gun Dragstrip.
Animal shelter personnel also participated in community events, including the Chalk Festival. The shelter handled 88 animals during May, including county, city, and tribal cases.
Additional business before the council included routine approvals, reports, and administrative matters.
