The Fallon Theatre is embracing the beauty of mid‑May with another full weekend of community, music, and movie magic as the spring season settles in. Warmer days and longer evenings make it an ideal time to gather downtown, and the theatre is ready to welcome neighbors for several films and a special live performance.
The theatre will host its Third Friday matinee on May 15 at 1 p.m., sponsored by the Coalition for Senior Citizens. While everyone is welcome, the afternoon is designed especially for local seniors, who are invited to enjoy a screening of “The Bucket List.” Each senior attending will receive a free small popcorn and drink to enjoy during the show. The matinee offers a relaxed opportunity to get out of the house, visit with friends, and enjoy a classic film on the big screen.
At 6 p.m. on both Friday and Saturday, the theatre will screen the animated classic “All Dogs Go to Heaven” (1989). The imaginative story follows Charlie, a roguish German Shepherd who returns to Earth to team up with his loyal friend Itchy and a young girl who can talk to animals. Blending humor, heart, and adventure, the film explores themes of friendship and redemption. Rated G, it runs 1 hour and 24 minutes.
On Friday at 7 p.m., “The Bucket List” (2007) returns for an evening showing. Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman star as two terminally ill men who leave the hospital to pursue the experiences they have always wanted to try before they “kick the bucket.” The film is a reminder to live life fully and appreciate the time we have. Rated PG‑13, it runs 1 hour and 37 minutes.
On Saturday at 7:30 p.m., the Toiyabe Chamber Music Society presents its Loneliest Road Chamber Music Project, welcoming the Berkelium String Quartet from Berkeley, Calif., as they begin their Nevada tour on the Fallon Theatre’s historic vaudeville stage. Their program includes works by Beethoven, Flanagan, and Schubert, paired with projected images to create an immersive performance. Admission is by donation, and children are welcome to attend this family‑friendly evening of live chamber music.
Looking ahead, Ventura Highway – The Music of America will perform on Saturday, July 18 at 8 p.m. The concert brings the harmonies and classic songs of the band America, offering a summer evening of familiar favorites. Tickets are $10.
The Fallon Theatre remains proud to serve as a community hub for film and live performances. For private rentals or marquee requests, call 775‑423‑6210 or email [email protected].
