Movies and More

As the year winds down, the Fallon Theatre is filled with holiday cheer and moments that become cherished memories. We’re so thankful to celebrate this season with a community that shows up, comes together, and keeps these beloved traditions alive. We’re embracing the cozy, magical spirit of the holidays in the best way we know how…

This weekend, one of our most beloved holiday traditions returns with The Polar Express! Join us on Friday, December 19th, and Saturday, December 20th, for free showings at both 6 pm and 7 pm, and relive those cozy memories of kids in pajamas, families snuggling up in blankets, and the warm excitement of the season. Our complimentary hot cocoa bar will be back with lots of fun toppings and sweet options, making the evening feel just as special as the movie itself. More than a film, this has become a true Fallon holiday tradition, filled with wonder, togetherness, and a little bit of Christmas magic we look forward to sharing every year. This film is rated G and runs for 1 hour and 40 minutes.

As this will be our final weekend together before Christmas, we want to take a moment to wish everyone a safe, gentle, and peaceful holiday. May your days be filled with kindness, warmth, and time well spent with the people you love. However you celebrate, we hope the season brings you comfort, joy, and a little extra magic. Please note, the Fallon Theatre will be closed on Friday, December 26th, so our volunteers can enjoy a little rest and quality time with their families after the busy holiday season. We appreciate all they do to keep the theatre running and can’t wait to welcome everyone back that weekend!

As we wrap up the holiday season and head toward the new year, we’re ending 2025 with two fun, nostalgic classics. At 6 pm, enjoy Elvis Presley in Follow That Dream (1962), a lighthearted comedy about a carefree family starting fresh in a small Florida town, only to stumble into unexpected legal and romantic mix-ups. Or, at 7 pm, settle in for John Wayne’s timeless western 3 Godfathers (1948), the heartfelt story of three outlaws who find redemption when they commit to protecting a stranded newborn in the desert. It’s a cozy, classic movie night designed to bring families and friends together as we say goodbye to another memorable year at the theatre.

And the celebration doesn’t stop there! We’re excited to close out the year together with a brand-new New Year’s Eve event at the Fallon Theatre. On Wednesday, December 31st, after the community fireworks show, join us at 7:30 pm for live music with River Rogue. This dynamic cover band, featuring musicians from Schurz, Fallon, and Carson City, channels the best of country, rock, and blues for an upbeat, feel-good night of music. Admission is free, the band will be playing for tips, and it’s a fun, relaxed way to welcome the new year with familiar faces, great tunes, and plenty of small-town cheer.

Looking further ahead into next year, we’re preparing for a very special celebration of our region’s roots. On Saturday, March 7th, 2026, the Fallon Theatre will host Heritage of the West, a free event honoring the songs, stories, and traditions that built the heart of our communities. We’re inviting performers, historians, poets, and storytellers to share the sounds and stories of the past - heritage music, cowboy poetry, dance, and oral histories that keep our western spirit alive. If you’d like to take part in this meaningful tribute to the region’s history and culture, please reach out to [email protected] or call 775-423-2055 or 775-217-4142.

We’re proud to continue offering free movie screenings whenever possible, making it easy for the whole community to gather and enjoy a night at the theatre. Our concession stand offers all the classic favorites, including popcorn and candy selections. If you’d like to rent the theatre for a celebration or feature a message on the marquee, please click the links, call 775-423-6210, or email [email protected].

They strung them along for years until they had no financial choice but to accept and get out. My Dad even hauled water for the Snow ranch trying to stay afloat. May God bless you all. I truly pray it works out for you.Comment publication date: 3/28/26, 9:22 PMComment source: Local Rancher Says Navy Land Expansion is Devastating His Family RanchComment author: Lynn JohnsonComment text: I remember your mother well; she was a lovely and kind woman. I see glimpses of your face in the years worn onto my dad. It makes me feel more connected to you in some way. I remember the familiar kindness from you that I know in my dad. I would’ve really liked to have a good conversation. I only have a handful of memories with you, but you were loving, and you were kind. I wish I was able to say more. If I am someone to you, I hope I make you proud. Thank you Aunt for this sweet post.Comment publication date: 3/27/26, 12:11 AMComment source: Obituary -- Randolph Floris Banovich C Comment author: RBCComment text: The Navy should reimburse the market cost of replacing the grazing land they are taking.
