Harold “Harry” Leroy Woolery

February 22, 1934 – October 26, 2025
Harold “Harry” Leroy Woolery

Harold “Harry” Leroy Woolery was born in Afton, Glenn County, California. He passed away at 2366 Longspur Loop, his Lincoln Hills home, on October 26, 2025, with his loving wife and devoted partner for over forty years by his side.  Harry was preceded in death by his father, Henry, and mother, Nelli. He is the last of five brothers and one sister.

Harry loved his blended family; altogether, he had five children, seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson. Harry led a remarkable life.  He chose a profession he loved: a Livestock Auctioneer.  Back in the Day, there was a livestock auction yard in many small towns. Harry started in his early 20s in Orland, California, and sold most of the auction houses in Northern California, up and down California’s Central Valley, over in Santa Rosa, Petaluma, Dixon (30 years), Cottonwood (8 years), and in Nevada and Klamath Falls, Oregon. In 1984, Harry leased the Roseville Livestock Auction, and in 1991, Harry built his own sale yard in Fallon, Nevada. He sold Roseville on Saturdays and Fallon every Tuesday. Fallon Livestock Auction is still in operation today.

Many people have fond memories of when Harry opened a roping arena at the home ranch in the mid-1980s.  Many horse events were enjoyed at the arena on the corner of Wise & Gladding Roads. Later, Harry turned the arena into a feedlot. He has been the President of District 3 High School Rodeo, which continues every year with other area Districts competing at the Lincoln Rodeo Grounds, and he sold FFA and 4H animals at the Roseville fair. Harry was a former member of the Tahoe Cattleman’s Assoc. (TCA) and the California Cattleman’s Assoc. (CCA). Harry volunteered his time for many community fundraising events, such as the Country Store fundraiser for historic Mt. Pleasant Hall.

Traveling with friends and family in their RV, especially during the winters in Borrego Springs, was the best. They had fun spending time on their Houseboat on Oroville Lake, it was close enough so Harry could get back to the ranch to feed! All who met him said, “Harry is the nicest guy.” It’s true, he was. There will be a graveside service for the family at Manzanita Cemetery at High Noon on Sunday, November 23, 2025.  After the service, passed there will be a Reception for everyone at 1:00 p.m. at the Home Ranch, 796 West Wise Road (where Harry and Pat resided most of their married life).

They strung them along for years until they had no financial choice but to accept and get out. My Dad even hauled water for the Snow ranch trying to stay afloat. May God bless you all. I truly pray it works out for you.Comment publication date: 3/28/26, 9:22 PMComment source: Local Rancher Says Navy Land Expansion is Devastating His Family RanchComment author: Lynn JohnsonComment text: I remember your mother well; she was a lovely and kind woman. I see glimpses of your face in the years worn onto my dad. It makes me feel more connected to you in some way. I remember the familiar kindness from you that I know in my dad. I would’ve really liked to have a good conversation. I only have a handful of memories with you, but you were loving, and you were kind. I wish I was able to say more. If I am someone to you, I hope I make you proud. Thank you Aunt for this sweet post.Comment publication date: 3/27/26, 12:11 AMComment source: Obituary -- Randolph Floris Banovich C Comment author: RBCComment text: The Navy should reimburse the market cost of replacing the grazing land they are taking.
