Upgrading East Richards Street Baseball Field

Upgrading East Richards Street Baseball Field

The Fallon Hornets Baseball Club and Fallon Youth Baseball wanted to give back to the community that has always been there for them. What better way to accomplish this than to take a neglected baseball field and restore it?

The baseball clubs would negotiate a ten-year contract with the Churchill County School District, and then the work would begin. With help from donors such as Miss Margie, donations would help with the renovation, as the entire field had to be torn up. Water pipes and sprinklers were installed with assistance from Roger Lambert Construction, Hiskett and Sons, Mark Manha Landscape Design, and Western Nevada Supply.

The lights around the field either did not work or were dimly lit; those needed to be replaced. That’s where Wedco, Just In Time, and Dool Power joined in to do the maintenance work to replace the bulbs and upgrade the wiring.

The roof of the announcer’s booth and snack bar was in bad condition and needed to be repaired. Silver State Roofing did that work. Hammond Homes and  Construction and Kent’s Supply did upgrades to the dugouts, and CC Communications upgraded the sound system and digital communications.

The City of Fallon worked with the baseball clubs to get the water turned back on for the fields. The city would provide dumpsters for the project and schedule them to be emptied when necessary. Other businesses that stepped in and helped behind the scenes were Lumos and Associates, E.H. Hursh, and Jerry Young. “This has been a massive undertaking,” said Fallon Hornets and Youth Baseball Clubs. “We want the community to know that their help with this project is very much appreciated.”
