Captain’s Log – Egg on our Face…

Captain’s Log – Egg on our Face…

Last week was rough, apparently. For all our clamoring about Yul the beautiful, we managed to spell his name wrong twice in the same column. Yul Brynner. We got it now.

We also managed to cut off the last two paragraphs of Michon’s Postcards. The two at the end that tied the whole thing together – you can read the whole column this week, in its entirety on page 14. And she promises she’s not giving up on us and will continue this very popular piece of the paper that so many people have let us know they love.

The good thing from all this is – we know people are reading the paper. They catch our mistakes and helpfully point them out. The bad thing is, you think we might quit making them after all this time.

But here we are.

And just so you know, Denice brought in the plate. Which now sits in a place of honor and will grace the Fallon Media Co. office for all our days. Yul, standing as he did, proud and regal in his “King and I” costume, looking, in boredom, past his devoted fans at some distant Hollywood dream.

The plate has me thinking – are there other favorite movie stars enshrined for eternity on cheap, tourist trinkets that we could collect. I do have the Marilyn Monroe stamp. Along with James Dean and Elvis. I never did get the John Wayne one. Movie posters don’t count, so what have you got lying around that commemorates your favorite star?

This will be fun, let us know.

So, while we dig through the junk drawer for big screen detritus, we’ll still be right here…

…Keeping you Posted.

We reached out to the writer/submitter and got this info back...hope it's helpful. PBM: Pharmacy Benefit Managers are pharmacies that are owned by insurance companies. (CVS is one.) They negotiate with drug makers to get reduced pricing for medications, but they historically have not passed along those savings to patients. https://www.ftc.gov/system/files/ftc_gov/pdf/pharmacy-benefit-managers-staff-report.pdf MFN: Most Favored Nation pricing is a policy that means a country agrees to offer the same trade concessions (like tariffs or price reductions) to all member nations of the World Trade Organization (WTO). When applied to pharmaceuticals, it could disrupt global access, deter innovation, and obscure the deeper systemic issues in American health care. https://petrieflom.law.harvard.edu/2025/05/22/the-global-risks-of-americas-most-favored-nation-drug-pricing-policy/Comment publication date: 6/23/25, 7:47 AMComment source: L E T T E R TO THE EDITOR
