Captain’s Log – The Ark at a The Post

Captain’s Log – The Ark at a The Post

We love animals around this joint. As you may or may not have noticed over the years.

This ship is like Noah’s Ark. You name it, and we have cats, dogs, chickens, and rabbits. And by we, I mean all of us, volunteers and everything.

We tell stories about our pets, we bring our pets to the office, we worry when someone has to run to the vet, and we cry when one of them kicks the bucket.

And we love the pets of our readers and our advertisers.

Beth has made a special friend at what one of us affectionately calls “Ghirardelli’s the plumbing place” (we really mean Galdarisis). They are one of our loyal advertisers and one of the places you can pick up a paper.

We have a batch of volunteers who have been helping us since the beginning, and they come to help us every Thursday morning to make paper deliveries. There are three lists of locations, and depending on who is available, Denice runs logistics and sets them up with their favorite route. Beth likes the one on the west side of town, and she gets to go see the Ghirardelli/Galdarisis, where she has made friends with Penny.

We get to hear about Penny when Beth returns to the office, but Penny wasn’t there last week. The gals at Galdarisi’s didn’t bring her that day because Beth hadn’t come the week before. We had quite a little chat about loving the fact that our delivery spots were making plans around our volunteers. It makes us feel all warm and fuzzy. Like a community – a family. Our Fallon Post family.

So, while we take a minute to appreciate you and all our pets and what we’re building together, we’ll still be right here…

…Keeping you Posted.

Rach

We reached out to the writer/submitter and got this info back...hope it's helpful. PBM: Pharmacy Benefit Managers are pharmacies that are owned by insurance companies. (CVS is one.) They negotiate with drug makers to get reduced pricing for medications, but they historically have not passed along those savings to patients. https://www.ftc.gov/system/files/ftc_gov/pdf/pharmacy-benefit-managers-staff-report.pdf MFN: Most Favored Nation pricing is a policy that means a country agrees to offer the same trade concessions (like tariffs or price reductions) to all member nations of the World Trade Organization (WTO). When applied to pharmaceuticals, it could disrupt global access, deter innovation, and obscure the deeper systemic issues in American health care. https://petrieflom.law.harvard.edu/2025/05/22/the-global-risks-of-americas-most-favored-nation-drug-pricing-policy/Comment publication date: 6/23/25, 7:47 AMComment source: L E T T E R TO THE EDITOR
