Employment Data for November released by DETR

According to the Nevada Department of Employment, Training and Rehabilitation’s (DETR) November 2024 economic report, the state’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 5.7 percent in November 2024 which was unchanged from October 2024. Seasonally adjusted estimates account for regularly seen economic patterns, with the following estimates not seasonally adjusted. 

In the three Metropolitan Statistical Areas (MSA), the unemployment rates were 5.9 percent in the Las Vegas area, 4.3 percent in Reno, and 4.8 percent in the Carson area in November 2024. 

In Nevada’s counties, the lowest unemployment rate was in White Pine County at 3.2 percent, and Nye County had the highest rate at 6.8 percent. The Churchill County unemployment rate is 4.4 percent, with 11,432 people in the labor force and 501 people being reported as unemployed. There are 10,931 Churchill County individuals employed, which includes those who commute out of the community. 

DETR data lists 612 establishments in quarter 2 of 2024, with 621 in the previous month. One year ago there were 624 establishments. Average employment in those establishments is 8,875 individuals, which is down from last year when there were 8,977 individuals working in local establishments. 

There were 91 people in November with ongoing unemployment claims, and 16 people who filed a new claim. That is up from last year when there were 64 ongoing claims, and 17 new claims filed.
