Watch What Happens Next

Watch What Happens Next

Churchill County Middle School eighth grade boys basketball team arrived at Dayton Middle School Tuesday afternoon with the #1 seed position for the Sagebrush League Championship Tournament, and just before the first game, the team was awarded the Sagebrush League Sportsmanship Award for the 2024 Season.

Lead by Head Coach Ammon Finch the boys first faced #4 seed, Fernley Silverland.  The boys put in a solid game all four periods defeating Silverland. CCMS boys moved on to face the #2 seed, and the only team to beat them this earlier in the season, Yerington Middle School.

Yerington came out in the final game shooting multiple three-pointers, quickly creating a large gap in the score.  Near the end of the second period, a double technical foul on both Yerington and CCMS had players locked into an intense battle. CCMS left the court trailing by 15. Going into halftime, one Yerington fan was boisterously shouting at another fan “watch what happens next.”

If you haven’t had the privilege of watching these 8th grade boys play football or basketball, you would have thought this game was over, just like the Yerington fan did. What he didn’t know is that this group of boys had the stamina, drive, and heart to keep fighting.

Fans watched as the CCMS team took the court in the 3rd period and showed Yerington what it means to never give up.  Coach Finch made a few offensive and defensive adjustments, and the boys quickly closed the gap in what was a healthy Yerington lead.  By the beginning of the 4th period, Yerington was losing momentum and was struggling to keep their lead.  With just minutes left, the score tipped 41-38.  CCMS boys didn’t let up and fought every second left until the final buzzer.

Congratulations CCMS 8th grade boys and Coach Finch.  You fought for and earned a first-place win!  We can’t wait to watch what happens next!

We reached out to the writer/submitter and got this info back...hope it's helpful. PBM: Pharmacy Benefit Managers are pharmacies that are owned by insurance companies. (CVS is one.) They negotiate with drug makers to get reduced pricing for medications, but they historically have not passed along those savings to patients. https://www.ftc.gov/system/files/ftc_gov/pdf/pharmacy-benefit-managers-staff-report.pdf MFN: Most Favored Nation pricing is a policy that means a country agrees to offer the same trade concessions (like tariffs or price reductions) to all member nations of the World Trade Organization (WTO). When applied to pharmaceuticals, it could disrupt global access, deter innovation, and obscure the deeper systemic issues in American health care. https://petrieflom.law.harvard.edu/2025/05/22/the-global-risks-of-americas-most-favored-nation-drug-pricing-policy/Comment publication date: 6/23/25, 7:47 AMComment source: L E T T E R TO THE EDITOR
