County Departments Moving Downtown

County Departments Moving Downtown
County facilities staff have been working hard to remodel the Frazzini Building downtown to house the countyโ€™s Social Services and Public Works, Planning & Building Departments. Story and Photo by Anne McMillin, APR

Construction on the former Frazzini Furniture building, 270 South Maine Street, is nearly complete, and two county departments are preparing to move in over the next few weeks.

The Public Works, Planning & Building Department is the first to move. It will vacate its current space in the County Administration Complex on North Taylor Street and move downtown on August 23. To facilitate the move, the department will be closed to the public on August 23 from 12 to 5 p.m.

Public Works, Planning & Building will occupy Suite A on the right or northern side of the Frazzini building. The department will be open for public business at 8 a.m. on Monday, August 26.

Social Services will occupy Suite B, on the left or southern side of the Frazzini Building, and is moving its administration functions on Tuesday, August 20. Essential Services functions will be in their current spaces at 485 West B Street, Suite 105, until they move on September 6. The Social Services Department will be closed to the public on September 6 and 9 to allow time to set up and settle into the new spaces. The department will be open to serve the public at 8 a.m. on September 10.

Phone numbers for both departments remain unchanged, but phone service in these departments may lag during the move. Messages may not be picked up right away while staff acclimates to their new environment. Your patience is appreciated during this time.

We reached out to the writer/submitter and got this info back...hope it's helpful. PBM: Pharmacy Benefit Managers are pharmacies that are owned by insurance companies. (CVS is one.) They negotiate with drug makers to get reduced pricing for medications, but they historically have not passed along those savings to patients. https://www.ftc.gov/system/files/ftc_gov/pdf/pharmacy-benefit-managers-staff-report.pdf MFN: Most Favored Nation pricing is a policy that means a country agrees to offer the same trade concessions (like tariffs or price reductions) to all member nations of the World Trade Organization (WTO). When applied to pharmaceuticals, it could disrupt global access, deter innovation, and obscure the deeper systemic issues in American health care. https://petrieflom.law.harvard.edu/2025/05/22/the-global-risks-of-americas-most-favored-nation-drug-pricing-policy/Comment publication date: 6/23/25, 7:47 AMComment source: L E T T E R TO THE EDITOR
